Collinsville Open Cut is located approximately 160km from Airlie Beach in Queensland, a town known as the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Producing both metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market, the surface mine has a long life and is currently investing in significant upgrades to the Coal Handling and Preparation Plant as well as transitioning from a dragline strip to a truck and shovel terrace operation.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Environment and Community Manager plays an integral role to the operation by ensuring that environmental compliance requirements are met and that relevant operating and closure plans are approved and adhered to. You will lead a small team and liaise with other department leads to ensure environmental objectives are achieved.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Environmental performance, monitoring and compliance
Rehabilitation and land management
Cultural heritage
Community and stakeholder engagement
Community investment
Legislative approvals to operate and meet mine closure objectives
About You:
Significant experience in a similar role
Experience in Mining, particularly in areas close to community
Experience in gaining legislative approvals
Experience in AMD Water Destruction desirable
Forward-thinking, natural leader
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to connect and engage with people and bring teams along on the journey
Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes
Ability to manage and upskill teams in a complex environment
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or related discipline desirable
Knowledge of financial and commercial principles
