The HSE Auditor is responsible for ensuring awareness of and compliance with Nutreco’s HSE standards and requirements in the area of Health, Safety and Environment. He / she develops the operational HSE plans, which aim at implementation, monitoring and improvement of HSE policies and standards in order to minimize risks and improve HSE performance for the organisation. The HSE Manager manages, motivates and assesses performance of a small team of HSE Officers.
The HSE Manager ensures connection between HSE and the business operation, to the effect that all operations are performed in such a manner that full compliance with Nutreco and government HSE standards is achieved and incidents / accidents are prevented.
The HSE Auditor is part of the Group Internal Audit (GIA). Next to operational and financial audits, GIA performs IT audits, HSE audits and other specific engagements. The mission of Internal Audit at Nutreco is to enhance and protect organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight. GIA supports the business to further improve and stimulates continuous improvement throughout the various layers of the organization.
The HSE Auditor is commonly positioned at OpCo level, and reporting directly to the General Manager, to underpin the overarching importance of Health, Safety and Environment to the business of Nutreco. The level of the role HSE Auditor relates to size and complexity of the entity.

Job Description:

  • HSE Policy, Plans & Standards
  • Assist the Director Group Internal Audit and management in defining the company’s audit strategy and year planning.
  • Develops and implements the HSE programs, policies, procedures and standards in order to assure full compliance to HSE standards and continuously improve the HSE performance throughout all business processes.
  • Drives the development of safe standard work practices and procedures.
  • Risk management, Inspection & Audits
  • Ensures the monitoring of HSE performance / conformance through inspections. Recommends actions for improvement. Organizes tools and systems to identify and correct potential HSE hazards.
  • Organizes internal inspections, internal audits and investigations and initiates and realizes corrective actions in case of deviations, in order to establish compliance with relevant standards and deviations from standards are detected and addressed. Contributes to / assists with external audits and inspections.
  • Training & Advice
  • Ensures all relevant training programs, introduction and instruction programs on HSE are in place and executed
  • Provides insights / advice at request or at own initiative regarding quantitative and qualitative HSE developments by means of periodic and ad hoc reports and/or analyses and provide information for management, in order to facilitate informed decision-making taking into account HSE aspects and implications.
  • Participates in CAPEX projects / project teams in order to ensure HSE standards are fully included throughout all project phases and fully taken into account in any design
  • Incidents and investigations
  • Ensures the execution of all activities related to incidents; Is actively (lead investigator) involved in more serious / critical incidents
  • Takes a leading role in case of (potential) crises and incidents in order to adequately handle and /or settle any crises and incidents
  • Projects
  • Executes and/or participates in various HSE improvement projects for the own entity plant / site; may participate in Divisional / Group projects
  • People management
  • Develops and coaches (project) teams, motivates employees through feedback and take appropriate action when needed, stimulate cooperation, so that staff is optimally deployed and is willing to and capable of realizing the individual and department / team objectives.
