Job Summary

The Risk Specialist supports the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of NAV CANADA’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program. The role supports and facilitates risk identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting across various stakeholders to strengthen decision making, protect service continuity, and enable strategic objectives. The Specialist partners with stakeholders across operations, technology, safety, cybersecurity, finance, and strategy to maintain risk registers, align methodologies, develop key risk indicators (KRIs), and deliver clear and actionable insights for executives and the Board.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and facilitate risk workshops, interviews, and RCSA activities across various stakeholder levels.
  • Support a Risk Liaison Network and promote a strong risk culture by enabling integration of enterprise risk and control concepts within their processes.
  • Apply consistent risk identification and assessment methodologies across various engagements by ensuring alignment to ERM policy, standards, and procedures across business units.
  • Maintain enterprise and support program/department risk activities.
  • Support quarterly and annual reporting cycles to Executive and Board committees and document decisions and actions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to design proportionate, cost‑effective mitigations and controls.
  • Improve data quality, lineage, and controls for risk data to contribute to dashboards (e.g., Power BI) and GRC tooling enhancements.
  • Partner with Internal Audit to ensure alignment between ERM strategy and assurance activities.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Data/Analytics, or related field.
  • 3 years of progressive experience in enterprise, operational, project, or technology/cyber risk in a complex, asset‑intensive or regulated environment.
  • Professional designation/certification in risk (e.g., CRMP, CRM, CIA, CPA, CISA, PMP, ISO 31000 or equivalent) is an asset(s).
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating risk workshops and assessments (RCSAs), working with KRIs, and maintaining risk registers/action plans.
  • Experience producing executive reports and dashboards.
  • Understanding of ERM frameworks and concepts (e.g., ISO 31000, COSO ERM), risk appetite/tolerance, control design and effectiveness, and three lines model.
  • Strong grasp of governance, regulatory expectations, and Board reporting practices.
  • Familiarity with quantitative/qualitative risk techniques, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is a hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days per week on site.
