The Program Management Office Leader (PMO) at 84.51° is a senior enterprise leader responsible for shaping, leading, and scaling the PMO function across the 84.51°/Kroger ecosystem. This role sets the vision, standards, and operating rhythm for program, project and change management excellence—ensuring the organization consistently delivers strategic outcomes that advance business priorities and enterprise transformation.
As the people leader of the PMO, this individual oversees a high-performing team of project and program managers spanning Enterprise, Commercial, and Kroger-aligned work. The Director fosters a culture of delivery excellence, talent development, and strategic partnership—empowering the PMO to operate as a trusted, value-driving arm of the business.
This leader combines strategic foresight, operational discipline, and people-centered leadership to drive measurable impact, elevate delivery and change capabilities, and enable 84.51°’s most critical initiatives to succeed.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Define and execute the enterprise PMO strategy—aligning project, program and change management disciplines, governance frameworks, and operating models across all 84.51° and Kroger portfolios.
- Establish consistent program and project governance to ensure accountability, transparency, and value realization at the enterprise level.
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional leaders at all levels, including executives, ensuring alignment and collaboration on priorities, resource allocation, and strategic initiatives.
- Partner with executive leaders to connect strategic priorities with executional excellence and organizational adoption, ensuring PMO contributions directly advance 84.51° and Kroger strategic goals.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing insights, recommendations, and decision support on program health, capacity, risks, readiness, and trade-offs.
- Proactively manage stakeholder expectations and communication to address concerns, resolve conflicts, and maintain trust.
- Lead and support the integration of delivery frameworks with strategic portfolio management and financial planning processes to drive end-to-end performance and adoption visibility.
People Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead and develop a diverse team of PMO professionals across project management, program management, and change leadership disciplines—cultivating an inclusive, empowered, and high-performing culture.
- Coach, mentor, and grow talent through career pathing, skill development, and ongoing feedback, creating a strong leadership bench for the future.
- Set clear performance expectations and foster accountability, collaboration, and innovation across the PMO organization.
- Model servant leadership and emotional intelligence, ensuring the team feels seen, supported, and inspired to deliver their best work through change and complexity.
- Drive engagement and alignment across PMO teams supporting multiple business units, ensuring consistency in standards while honoring unique business needs.
Delivery Excellence & Enterprise Impact
- Oversee delivery of the company’s most complex, cross-functional programs—ensuring alignment, risk mitigation, and achievement of business outcomes and behavioral adoption.
- Lead the evolution of enterprise change leadership frameworks – embedding structured approaches for stakeholder engagement, communications, readiness and sustainment planning into every major initiative.
- Champion continuous improvement of PMO processes, methodologies, and tools, embedding best practices and agility into the organization’s DNA.
- Leverage modern project management tools and technologies like MS Project, JIRA, etc to enable transparency, collaboration, and efficiency across the PMO organization.
- Stay ahead of emerging PMO technologies and trends to continuously evolve the organization’s capabilities, specifically Artificial Intelligence.
- Create and maintain enterprise-level program dashboards, health metrics, and reporting that drive informed decision-making by executives.
- Serve as a visible enterprise champion for disciplined execution and benefits realization, bridging strategy to delivery results.
Qualifications, Skills, & Experience:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Business, Management, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in project, program, and/or change management, with at least 5 years in senior leadership of a PMO or equivalent function.
- Proven success leading large, diverse teams in complex, matrixed organizations.
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification required; Agile certification strongly preferred.
