The Enterprise Counsel plays a key role within the legal department, providing strategic and practical legal advice to support the organization’s objectives.

We believe that time together in the office is important for OMERS and Oxford, the strength of our employees, and the work we do for our pension members. Our hybrid work guideline requires teams to come to the office a minimum of 4 days per week.

This is a 13 month direct contract through OMERS

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance to business units and senior management on a variety of legal matters, including corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, agreements, and legal documents.

  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate changes in laws and regulations relevant to the organization’s operations.

  • Represent the organization in negotiations.

  • Prepare legal reports, briefings, and recommendations for senior leadership.

  • Promote a culture of ethics, integrity, and compliance across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from an accredited law school; member in good standing of a provincial bar.

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive legal experience, including experience managing or mentoring legal professionals.

  • Broad knowledge of corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and complex legal matters.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • High ethical standards and sound judgment.
