The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues associated with problematic substance use and provide participants a place of hope, compassion and dignity to recover safely.
As a Registered or Enrolled Nurse, you will provide holistic and comprehensive nursing support to participants throughout their journey with the Withdrawal Unit, enhancing the provision of primary health care within a specialist AOD service.
Reporting to the Nurse Team Leader, this is a casual position based in Highgate, WA.
This role requires the ability to work a rotating roster of morning, evening and night shifts across weekdays and weekends. You will also be required to work on call when scheduled.
Conduct clinical observations, including withdrawal assessment using relevant assessment tools
Provide low-medical support including medication administration, basic wound care, health assessment and screening
Develop health-related withdrawal treatment plans in collaboration with participants and the broader Bridge House team
Provide trauma-informed, person-centred care to participants with histories of complex trauma and co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions
Work collaboratively with GPs and Nurse Practitioners providing medical support and oversight to Bridge House
Registered Nurse (Division 1) or Enrolled Nurse qualification, with current AHPRA registration
Practical experience in AOD service delivery, with an understanding of addictive behaviours and both illicit and licit substances
Demonstrated skills in triage, medical assessment, decision making and providing appropriate nursing interventions during crisis
Demonstrated competence in infection control procedures
Competent computer skills to use Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint) and the ability to learn TSA documentation systems
Ability to work a rotating roster of morning, evening and night shifts including weekends and weekdays
Ability to be on call when scheduled
