Job Summary: You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the Weapon Systems Development Division (JXP) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER located at MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14 and GS-15.

Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the Chief Engineer and Technical Director for Program Executive Office Special Operations Force (SOF) Warrior Systems (PEO-SW), MacDill AFB, FL.
  • You will serve as a recognized expert in technology development activities for advanced technology planning, research coordination, technology demonstrations and support; developmental systems engineering; and technical risk management.
  • You will support lifecycle program acquisition of SOF-p Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT and E) across ten geographically separated program management offices.
  • You will support Small Unit Maneuver across all domains of battle (maritime, air, space, cyber, and ground).
  • You will be responsible for defense capabilities such as: Electromagnetic Warfare, Counter Unmanned Systems, Launched Effects, Weapons, Ammunition, Tactical Ground Mobility, Soldier Survivability, and Hyper Enabled Operator.

Qualifications: In addition to basic education requirements, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist, overseeing planning and execution of technical engineering or scientific projects involving design, integration, or testing of energetic or weapon systems to ensure sustainment, quality control, and readiness for energetic or weapons programs.
