Job Summary: You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Deck Structural Work Center (Code 962A), Planning Branch (Code 962), Production Control Division (Code 960), Production Control Division (Code 900) of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.

Major Duties:

  • You will develop initial and finalized design for structural repair or modification.
  • You will coordinate design with shops and operating officials to explain or clarify the nature of cations being taken or recommended.
  • You will resolve field or shipboard problems.
  • You will coordinate efforts on planning and projects with personnel for other engineering and planning disciplines or from other activities.
  • You will independently research materials.
  • You will provide support to the supply department for the procurement of parts that require open purchase for all assigned ships.
  • You will assign work as necessary to ensure all work is planned 30 days prior to start of ship availabilities.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying practical knowledge of engineering principles and techniques to develop detailed plans for the repair, modification, or alteration of shipboard systems. Experience coordinating engineering and planning projects with various disciplines and activities to ensure satisfactory project completion, including visiting job sites to resolve repair-related problems and direct appropriate actions. Experience researching technical data regarding operational capabilities and performance to identify replacement parts and materials not available in the Navy Stock System. Experience preparing a full range of military shipboard planning documents, including government cost estimates, work packages, and technical reports, ensuring accuracy in accordance with standards like the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM).
