Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Engineering Tech Support – Level 1 to join our team in Dulles, VA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
The Engineering Tech Support will provide technical support for Integration and Test (I&T) of spacecraft harnesses, performing tasks such as routing, verification, terminations, and installation. The role involves reading and interpreting released wire lists, schematics, work instructions, and engineering drawings, and executing work with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and hardware quality while strictly following company procedures, NASA-STD-8739.4 or IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards. The successful candidate will deliver timely status updates and flag technical issues to shop leads and Work Center management, ensuring any potential impacts to quality or schedule are addressed promptly. This position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and adherence to rigorous quality and safety protocols.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
In this job, you will:
Interpret detailed work instructions and complex engineering documentation, including drawings, schematics, wire lists, and diagrams.
Fabricate, assemble, and install harness, electromechanical, and electronic components and assemblies.
Support the integration of critical spaceflight hardware with a high level of attention to detail, safety, and quality.
Adhere 100% to established ISO processes, cleanroom protocols, hazardous material handling requirements, and operational procedures.
Demonstrate general technical knowledge in harness manufacturing, including the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
Quickly learn and perform new tasks such as splicing, torquing, wire routing, and connector mating.
Interact daily with work center management, engineers, and harness leads to communicate work status and resolve technical issues.
Work effectively within a diverse team, accept constructive feedback from Safety and Quality personnel.
Exhibit strong organizational skills, adaptability, precision, and a proactive mindset with a commitment to mission success.
Maintain flexibility to support off-shift work, weekends, overtime, and up to 25% domestic travel for launch campaign support.
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
Knowledge of electrical measurements (AC/DC, resistance), voltage circuitry, and troubleshooting techniques.
Understanding of clean room operations and spacecraft handling protocols.
Ability to lift and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks such as sanding or scrubbing over long periods of time.
Must be able to work flexible shifts, including 2nd and 3rd shift schedules, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active or current DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI or SAP/SAR access.
NASA-STD-8739.4 or IPC/WHMA-A-620 with Space Addendum.
Flight harness integration, terminations and spacecraft processing experience.
Flight hardware integration and spacecraft processing experience.
Certifications in flight wire harnessing, flight soldering, and epoxy bonding.
Flight hardware installation and spacecraft processing experience.
Aerospace/Satellite Integration & harness Installations.

Primary Level Salary Range: $47,200.00 - $78,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
