Location: Major Account sites in Central London & West London
Working Hours: 08:00-17:00 (subject to property requirements) plus on-call rota for emergency response
Contract Type: Occupier contracts on client accounts
This role requires an experienced engineering professional to provide comprehensive building services maintenance and ensure optimal operation of all building infrastructure systems. The successful candidate will maintain detailed knowledge of all building services systems and contingency procedures while ensuring strict compliance with Health & Safety regulations and building codes of practice.
The Engineering Supervisor will operate and maintain all building systems efficiently, including acting as Duty Authorised Person (LV) when required and issuing relevant site permits as part of the Safe System of Work. Daily responsibilities include completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks, conducting thorough building tours to identify and address defects, and ensuring accurate system updates.
The role requires timely implementation and accurate recording of statutory inspections including fire safety, access equipment, and water hygiene records. The supervisor will ensure specialist service provider work meets quality standards and escalate recommendations to the Technical Manager appropriately. Maintaining exceptional housekeeping standards across plant areas, workshops, stores, and rest areas is essential.
The supervisor will identify required materials promptly, complete internal Materials Request Forms, and ensure compliance with all statutory health, safety, and environmental regulations.
The Engineering Supervisor must demonstrate capability across the following systems:
Electrical & Control Systems: Building Management Systems, electrical monitoring, blind control systems, AV control systems, variable speed drives, UPS systems with batteries and controls, emergency lighting, and high/low voltage switch panels with associated breakers.
HVAC & Environmental: Air handling units, air conditioning, terminal units (VAV and CRAC), window vent systems, cooling tower plant.
Water Services: Domestic water services and associated systems.
Fire & Life Safety: Fire prevention and detection systems, sprinklers, wet risers, fire alarm and voice alarm systems, VESDA, fire suppression systems.
Power & Generation: Generators, load banks and controls, AC/DC single phase and three phase motors.
Technical Qualifications: Candidates must possess an approved apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Building Services, with formal qualifications in electrical engineering. Experience as an end user of Building Management Systems is required.
Communication & Administration: Excellent communication skills for engaging with staff and customers at all levels are essential. Candidates should demonstrate intermediate computer literacy using Windows Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and possess excellent numeracy, literacy, and report writing skills.
Working Style: The role requires self-motivation with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

They must demonstrate enthusiasm for delivering excellent customer service and possess the ability to lead, motivate, and direct a small team of technicians and operatives. A well-presented and approachable manner is essential, combined with confidence and commitment to providing professional service.

The role demands effective problem-solving capabilities, the ability to remain calm under pressure, attention to detail, and consistent reliability.
