JOB SUMMARY:

The Trace3 Government Engineering Director is responsible for ensuring that key projects and engineering duties are fulfilled while providing leadership to members on their team.  The Engineering Director will be responsible for day-to-day operations of assuring programs are supported with the appropriate skills to achieve highest customer satisfaction and delivery. The Engineering Director is responsible for supporting team growth, mentorship and leadership throughout the employee life cycle.  

 

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Lead and manage the regional engineering team, ensuring consistent achievement of utilization, bench costs, billable hours and program delivery targets.
  • Drive talent acquisition by participating in the hiring process and onboarding new team members; provide coaching, mentoring, and career development support.
  • Drive the technical growth, training, and certification of T3G engineers in key discipline areas as identified by Trace3 Government, OEM partners, and customer requirements.
  • Represent team to Trace3 Government leadership and internal stakeholders to ensure issues, questions, and concerns of team members are addressed appropriately.
  • Support company initiatives and effectively cascade objectives to team members, including communicating goals, services objectives, and corporate policy updates.
  • Report on engineering team readiness, gaps, asks, technical performance, and key financial metrics.
  • Coordinate with T3G program management to define gaps in engineering and work with recruiting and POH to acquire the talent and experience required to execute programs effectively, as well as balance team size to minimize bench costs and maximize utilization.
  • Collaborate with the GM, RVPE, and Trace3 BU leadership on engineering capabilities and needs in support of the T3G region and customer requirements.
  • Drive initiatives across their engineering teams to create efficiencies, cost optimization, and best engineering practices.
  • Work with T3G Program Management Office to develop and monitor budgets for projects and programs, ensuring financial accountability and efficient resource allocation.
  • After identified requirements from the PMO, the ERM aligns engineers to the identified tasks.
  • Provide pre-sales assistance when needed for practice-specific projects and/or proposals while maximizing utilization and coordinating with Program Management on use of resources.
  • Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven leadership experience with demonstrated ability to manage team performance against utilization and productivity metrics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a track record of resolving complex operational challenges.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in team leadership, workforce planning, and performance management within a technical services or engineering environment.
  • Approved to hold a US government security clearance.

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.

$165,000$200,000 USD
