Production Manager

Freightliner – Crewe Vehicle Maintenance Facility

A vacancy has arisen for a Production Manager at our Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Crewe.

The successful candidate will form part of the management team of the engineering organisation that takes responsibility for the delivery of safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance of locomotives and wagons to meet and exceed customer requirements.

Reporting to and working with the Depot Manager, the Production Manager will take the lead role in delivering quality maintenance to the business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivery of locomotive and wagon maintenance

• Provide leadership and management to the Production teams. Identify the barriers to productivity, technical excellence and production capacity and develop new methods of working, capacity analysis and customer liaison and support to constantly improve quality and productivity creating greater future opportunities.

• Optimize resources to deliver an efficient maintenance service.

The ideal candidates will ideally possess the following skills and attributes:

• Safety Leadership in an Engineering environment

• Engineering supervisory/management with experience of managing production teams.

• Knowledge of Traction and Rolling stock maintenance or an Engineering environment

• Relevant Engineering Qualifications

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Analytical, innovative and constantly striving for improvement.

• Committed to customer service

The successful applicant should be a safety conscious and motivated self-starter, a fully versatile team member who has well established experience within a railway maintenance depot environment or a similar engineering background. There will be an expectation for the Production Manager to join the Weekend Production call roster.
