POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering Manager owns the site’s capital project portfolio and asset reliability strategy to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations. This role leads a multidisciplinary team (project engineers, reliability engineers, planners) to deliver engineering solutions, improve equipment reliability, and support Process Safety Management (PSM) and Mechanical Integrity (MI). The Manager partners with Operations, Maintenance, EHS, Quality, and Supply Chain to optimize throughput, reduce losses, and extend asset life while meeting business objectives. To be successful in the role, the Engineering Manager needs to be committed to employee development, results-driven, safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast paced, process-driven environment. Located at our Florence, Kentucky site, this role reports to the Plant Manager.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
An Engineering Manager is responsible for but not limited to the following:
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Develop and execute a multi‑year engineering and reliability roadmap aligned to site strategy (safety, quality, delivery, cost, sustainability).
- Establish standards for design basis, specification control, MOC, PSSR, and documentation (as‑builts, P&IDs, datasheets).
- Lead the Engineering & Reliability Council (tiered reviews, KPIs, risk register) and ensure effective cross‑functional alignment.
Capital Projects (CAPEX) & Engineering
- Own the capital portfolio: business cases, AFE/ROI, scope development, cost/schedule control, risk management, and change control.
- Oversee project execution from FEL through commissioning/startup; ensure constructability, EH&S by design, and maintainability.
- Standardize equipment and technologies to reduce complexity and lifecycle costs; maintain engineering specifications and standards.
- Manage external EPCs, OEMs, and contractors with clear technical, safety, and performance expectations.
Reliability Strategy & Asset Performance
- Implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), FMEA, and criticality analysis to define optimal PM/PdM strategies.
- Deploy predictive technologies (vibration, thermography, ultrasound, oil analysis, motor testing, condition monitoring/Online CBM).
- Lead root-cause analysis (RCA/5-Why/Fishbone/8D) for chronic losses; convert findings into engineered solutions and sustainable standards.
- Improve MTBF, MTTR, OEE, uptime, and cost per asset; eliminate reoccurring failures and bad actors.
Process Safety (PSM/RMP) & Mechanical Integrity
- Own engineering and reliability aspects of PSM/RMP: MI program, inspection/test plans, relief device program, instrumentation integrity, SIS/SIF lifecycle activities in partnership with Controls/PSM.
- Ensure MOC, PSSR, PHAs/HAZOP action closure, and documentation traceability; steward risk registers and safeguards.
- Partner with EHS to ensure projects and modifications meet OSHA, NFPA, NEC, API, ASME, ANSI/ISA and local code requirements.
Maintenance Integration & Work Management
- Partner with Maintenance to optimize planning/scheduling, job plans, and kitting; ensure CMMS/EAM data integrity (asset hierarchy, BOMs, failure codes).
- Convert reliability strategies into executable PM/PdM tasks with effectiveness reviews and interval optimization.
- Lead major turnarounds/outages: scope freeze, critical path control, contractor safety, and flawless startup readiness.
Utilities, Energy & Sustainability
- Provide engineering stewardship for utilities (steam/boilers, compressed air, chilled water, cooling towers, nitrogen/inerting, power distribution).
- Monitor and improve energy efficiency and utility reliability; support corporate sustainability targets (energy, water, emissions).
Documentation & Data Analytics
- Maintain accurate P&IDs, loop sheets, electrical one‑lines, equipment files, cause/effect matrices, and asset criticality rankings.
- Build dashboards for reliability KPIs, capital performance, and loss trees; drive data‑driven decision making.
People Leadership & Culture
- Lead and develop project engineers, reliability engineers, planners, and specialists; set goals, coach performance, and build succession plans.
- Promote a culture of safety, ownership, standard work, and continuous improvement; recognize excellence and share learnings.
- Provide technical mentoring and training for Operations and Maintenance on design intent and asset care.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering OR equivalent technical experience
- At least 10 years in chemical, petrochemical, or regulated process manufacturing with increasing responsibility in projects and reliability.
- 5+ years leading engineering/reliability or cross‑functional technical teams.
- Proven track record delivering CAPEX and reliability improvements; experience with PSM/RMP and MI programs
- Strong knowledge of RCM, FMEA, RBI, SIS/SIF, and predictive maintenance technologies.
- Proficiency with CMMS/EAM (e.g., SAP PM/Maximo/Infor), reliability analytics, and project controls (cost/schedule/risk).
- Familiarity with codes/standards: API, ASME, NFPA, NEC, ISA/IEC 61511, ASTM.
- Preferred
- CMRP, CRE, PMP, HAZOP/LOPA/PSM training; PE licensure a plus.
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt

The expected compensation range for this position is between $123,690.00 and $206,150.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
