True anomaly inc

Engineering Manager, Mechanical

Denver, CO Full Time

A new space race has begun. True Anomaly seeks those with the talent and ambition to build innovative technology that solves the next generation of engineering, manufacturing, and operational challenges for space security and sustainability.

OUR MISSION

The peaceful use of space is essential for continued prosperity on Earth—from communications and finance to navigation and logistics. True Anomaly builds innovative technology at the intersection of spacecraft, software, and AI to enhance the capabilities of the U.S., its allies, and commercial partners. We safeguard global security by ensuring space access and sustainability for all.

OUR VALUES

  • Be the offset. We create asymmetric advantages with creativity and ingenuity
  • What would it take? We challenge assumptions to deliver ambitious results
  • It’s the people. Our team is our competitive advantage and we are better together

YOUR MISSION

True Anomaly is looking for you, a creative and experienced leader, to build, manage and lead a team of mechanical engineers in the successful development and design of primary/secondary structure and mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) for spacecraft and missile defense systems. Primary and secondary structure provide the environment for electronics and power subsystems to both reside and survive within spacecraft and missiles throughout the mission life cycle. MGSE creates the foundation for how we facilitate integration and test of spacecraft and missile defense systems. Together, structure design creates the skeletal structure for spacecraft and missile defense products and MGSE allow these systems to come together and be deployed effectively.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and mentorship, through knowledge and experience, to a team of mechanical design engineers with varying experience
  • Manage team in terms of department staffing, OH budget, performance management, employee development, succession planning, and day-to-day operations/tasking
  • Provide technical expertise in mechanical engineering as it relates to mechanical design of space related hardware and associated MGSE design
  • Oversee team’s work products to ensure requirements, drawings, and other deliverables are complete and aligned to program requirements/needs
  • Create department standards and process that define what we do, how we do it, and a quality of product commensurate to true anomalies expectations
  • Be the interface between leadership, programs, and engineering teams to facilitate delivery of innovative ‘on schedule’ and ‘on cost’ solutions
  • Drive qualification and test campaigns related to flight mechanical and MGSE design activities in addition to being available to programs as a SME for all program activities
  • Knowledge across vehicle subsystems/functions as it relates to flight mechanical and MGSE design
  • Willingness and ability to delegate and parse tasks and data to maximize individual and team efficiency
  • Knowledge of industrial base related to mechanical components with experience interacting with applicable suppliers and manufacturing entities
  • Experience leading trade studies that balance performance needs, manufacturability, cost, schedule and risk
  • Knowledge and experience using industry standards and process related to aerospace mechanical design and manufacturing
  • Willingness and ability to lead and produce detailed engineering products or lead efforts as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience that include prior functional management or team leadership experience
  • Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, NX or similar 3D CAD software; Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia or other PLM software
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with and motivate team members, lead through influence, develop talent, and ability to seek compromise without significant sacrifice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to travel 20% of the time

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Complete program lifecycle experience (proposal through launch)
  • Advanced degree in engineering, manufacturing, or management
  • Experience supporting capture activities as it relates to proposing mechanical engineering cost and effort
  • Strong understanding of space craft subsystems as it relates to mechanical design and MGSE
  • Innate interest, curiosity, and/or passion for engineering, space hardware, or aerospace at large
  • Active TS//SCI clearance

COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary: $140,000-$185,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave
