Sustainable Automation

The Industrial and Healthcare Backend organization is seeking a motivated and creative Test Development Engineer to join our team in Milan. The team, as part of the Sustainable Automation (SAU) business unit, is at the forefront of the Intelligent Edge, developing innovative silicon and board level solutions that drive growth in our global industrial business. Our diverse portfolio of active projects includes Industrial Communications (e.g. IO-Link, Binary Sensors), Industrial digital I/O (High voltage, Mixed Signal), and Motor Drivers (Stepper, BLDC, FOC, and Gate Drivers) products which operate in harsh high-voltage/large-current industrial environments and end-user applications.

The Test Development role provides an exciting opportunity to work in a technically challenging and highly rewarding environment. You will work hands-on with a broad range of analogue and digital electronics, and develop significant expertise at circuit, component, and system level.

This role offers a wide variety of development opportunities and exposes you to multiple technologies and end applications. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, developing cutting edge silicon solutions to solve our customers’ biggest problems and helping ADI to win at the Intelligent Edge.

In the role you will be developing hardware and software solutions to test and industrialize both Integrated Circuit and Borad (Module) solutions in the SAU market.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Product Development Team to understand the product and the end application, and provide Design for Test inputs
  • Support pre silicon verification of the designs through hardware design / prototyping and software simulations
  • Develop test plans and procedures to ensure product reliability and performance
  • Developing a hardware and software measurement system, involving a mix of hardware design, software development to measure the product characteristics
  • Work on Automated Test Systems (ATE) hands on debug of new products to quickly validate functionality and provide feedback to the design team
  • Identification of silicon / module shortcomings and working with the Development Team to drive investigations to root cause and solutions/workaround in timely and efficient manner
  • Conducting statistical analysis of measurement data, and summarising/presenting reports of product performance, provide detailed reports to the stakeholders
  • Working with Design Evaluation engineers on cross correlation of bench and ATE measurements
  • Working closely with Design, and Applications Engineers to understand and overcome obstacles and work towards a successful product release
  • Available to travel (up to 10%)

Relevant Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/ Electronic engineering or equivalent
  • Practical experience in test board design and layout with good understanding of measurement techniques and methods
  • Practical experience in mixed signal hardware design, software development, data gathering and analysis
  • Experience with scripting and languages (e.g., Python, Matlab).
  • Verilog and VHDL experience is a plus
  • A solid background in mixed signal electronics
  • Strong problem solving and data analysis skills
  • Good initiative and motivation to work in a technical environment, motivated to work independently
  • Strong communication skills and enjoys sharing their knowledge and expertise
