Lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of energy performance across industrial operations. As the Energy Manager, you will drive cost savings, sustainability, and operational excellence by managing metrics, audits, ISO 50001 systems, and stakeholder engagement. You will oversee multi-site performance reporting and coordinate cross-functional initiatives to achieve organizational energy and cost-reduction goals.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering, or related field
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential required
7+ years of experience in energy conservation projects (heavy industrial preferred)
Experience administering ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical systems (thermal processes, compressed air, dust collection, air make-up units, pumps, fans)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and process diagrams
Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams and projects
Excellent communication skills — verbal, written, and public speaking
Strong project management skills for large, multi-disciplinary initiatives
Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate data into solutions
Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Office features
Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
7–10 years of experience in energy management (heavy industrial preferred)
Strong energy data analytics and audit expertise
Multi-site or regional experience highly valued
Prior experience with Continuous Improvement and/or Six Sigma projects
Background in steel mill operations and maintenance
Creative problem-solving skills with ability to innovate
Serve as the Management Representative for ISO 50001, leading all aspects of the Energy Management System (EnMS)
Develop and maintain energy performance indicators (EnPIs), baselines, and improvement targets aligned with operational goals
Monitor and analyze energy data across facilities, identifying and prioritizing opportunities for improvement
Oversee integration of energy monitoring software and dashboards
Coordinate and review site-wide energy audits of industrial systems (process heating, compressed air, ventilation, pumps, fans)
Develop tailored energy management strategies based on audit findings and organizational goals
Partner with engineering teams to develop capital projects and evaluate proposed energy conservation measures
Support Finance in budgeting for plant energy costs and implementing measurement & verification (M&V) strategies
Interface with utilities on tariffs, demand response, reliability programs, and renewable integration options
Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary energy team
Standardize practices across sites and promote best practices in energy management
Build organizational support for energy initiatives through communication and training
Drive synergy between cost reduction and energy efficiency improvements
Stay current on emerging technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes
Collaborate with state and federal agencies to maximize training and resources for energy efficiency
Ensure compliance with Environmental, Quality, and Safety Management System requirements
Play a pivotal role in advancing sustainability and operational excellence across industrial operations
Lead initiatives that directly impact cost savings and energy performance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to shape the future of energy management
