Energy Engineer

Ameresco Canada has an immediate opening for an Energy Engineer to support Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Working autonomously on multiple projects given broad objectives from Director of Engineering.
  • Identify energy conservation opportunities and help facilitate the implementation of project initiatives, and programs that reduce energy consumption, demand, and operational cost.
  • Develop conceptual design strategies of green energy concepts such as heat pumps and solar thermal.
  • Review of new construction/retrofit design.
  • Oversee baseline, and post-installation measurement and verification activities for energy savings performance contracts.
  • Coordinate collection & review of data from energy management systems. Identify and investigate performance issues. Quantify impact on energy savings and work with Design, Construction and O&M to develop and implement solutions. Prepare annual verification reports, including data analysis and site inspections as required.
  • Audit existing building mechanical systems and prepare technical write-ups documenting existing conditions for studies.
  • Provide technical support to internal departments including Marketing and Business Development.
  • Providing training to customer staff regarding the improvements made to the facilities.
  • Work and present information professionally to customers as necessary.
  • Other responsibilities as required by direct manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Engineering Technologist (CET) designation, Technician, or Engineering degree in a related technological field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy management and engineering. Experience with commercially available energy modelling software.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be capable of working autonomously within the team environment and asking for support and guidance as required.
  • Must have strong knowledge and experience with building HVAC, building automation systems, and M&V practices and procedures.
  • Candidate must also enjoy the challenge of troubleshooting and problem solving in a technical setting. The candidate must present professionally to clients of Ameresco Canada.
  • Strong HVAC background, experience with auditing, project development, building system optimization, and M&V practices.
  • Certified Energy Manager designation is a plus.
  • Canadian Citizenship or Landed Immigrant Status Valid Provincial Driver’s license.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; self motivated and detail oriented.
