Job Highlights:

  • We are a joint venture.  50% of us are owned by 6 doctors and 50% SSM.
  • We are a free-standing building in St. Peters we are not located on the SJSC campus.
  • You are an employee of SSM so you will have SSM benefits.
  • We see on average 45-50 patients a day.  Very fast pace.  We have 10 holding and recovery beds and three procedure rooms.
  • You work 36 hours per week, which is 72 per pay period. Some work 40 hrs.
  • Your hours may flex to work 38 hours per week depending on department needs.
  • You can be scheduled to work as early as 615a.m. and as late as 5p.m.  On average you work 630-4p or 630-5p.  When you are scheduled to 5pm you are expected to stay until the day is done.
  • Work 4 days per week, off day will rotate.  No holidays, no weekends.
  • At the JV we have our patient arrive 30 mins before their scheduled appointment.  We have 30 mins to get them ready for their procedure then they go back for their procedure and return to the same nurse for discharge.  Patients are usually in holding and recovery after their procedure for about 30 mins. 
  • At the JV we only do Endoscopy and Colonoscopy.
  • No experience is necessary we will train in all these procedures.
  • Techs work side by side in the room with the doctors.  They hand the doctors their instruments and set up the room for each procedure.
  • We reprocess our own scopes so you will be required to learn the process of cleaning the scopes.
  • Expectation is to be team player, flexible, able to learn several roles.
  • Prefer PPE and infection control experience.  Not required but preferred.
  • Must be able to take and give constructive feedback.
  • Compliant with CPR standards.

Job Summary:

Maintains a clean/sterile field to provide support for providers during endoscopy procedures. Prepares and maintains instruments and equipment and demonstrates expertise in the operation and function of required instruments and equipment.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Anticipates and plans individualized care for the patient for all routine endoscopic procedures and anticipates most unexpected patient and provider needs.
  • Runs the table and/or endoscopic equipment and assists the provider on all types of procedures utilizing the principles of surgical asepsis, infection control, universal precautions and life safety.
  • Maintains an orderly and organized work environment and takes responsibility for the maintenance and care of all equipment.
  • Prioritizes effectively, implements problem solving skills and performs in a coordinated manner when delivering care in high stress environments.
  • Demonstrates expertise in the operation and function of instrumentation and equipment for routine endoscopic procedures performed.
  • Maintains endoscopic scopes and instruments, demonstrating understanding of appropriate cleaning, high level disinfection and/or sterilization methods and serves as a resource and mentor to less experienced staff on cases, equipment and instrumentation.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

EXPERIENCE

  • One year direct patient care experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Constant use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Constant lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting/moving patients.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching and gripping.
  • Frequent use of clear vision at 20 inches or less.
  • Frequent use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing over 50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of clear vision at 20 feet or more.
  • Occasional use of sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional keyboard use/data entry.
  • Rare kneeling.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
