The Salvation Army EPlus Local is an innovative program designed to support people from Migrant, Refugee and Asylum Seeker backgrounds to find sustainable employment.  

The successful candidate will provide a range of preparatory and job search support activities, as well as brokering employment for each participant of the program through active reverse marketing (advocacy) with local employers. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Manage the program set up and delivery of EPlus Local Humanitarian Employment program in accordance with pre-determined program goals and KPIs   
  • Deliver EPlus Local service model including specialised, personal case management, career coaching and mentoring of each participant; preparing groups of candidates for specific positions in the local labour market; delivering group training sessions to improve communication and employability skills; facilitating job search activities with volunteers at each centre and active reverse marketing of each participant to local employers   
  • Identify and engage with local employers and stakeholders to source relevant vacancies, work experience and volunteer opportunities and broker jobs for participants  
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders including Workforce Australia, DES and SRSS providers to leverage resources and coordinate services for people seeking asylum  
  • Maintain positive communication with key internal TSA staff, officers and volunteers to ensure access for participants to wider services and support
  • Cooperate with other EPlus and Salvation Army staff to plan and deliver an effective service, including management of initial assessment and referral processes 
  • Maintain regular, pro-active contact with all participants including weekly post-placement support for at least 12 weeks following placement 
  • Regular travel between Parramatta, Auburn, Liverpool and St Mary's and Merrylands will be required, a valid driver’s licence is preferred for this position, however public transport is available to sites.

 We currently have one permanent, part-time positions available. Hours can be negotiated.

ABOUT YOU

  • Candidates with experience speaking Tamil or Sinhala languages are desirable
  • Candidates from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds are encouraged to apply
  • Have the ability to relate and interact with individuals with complex barriers 
  •  Experience in community or social work, or frontline employment service delivery with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) job seekers with complex barriers to employment, including delivery of both group activities and individual coaching / case management will be viewed favourably
  • Confident ability to engage with employers, source vacancies and broker employment for candidates – (advocacy for our clients is a big part of what we do)
  • Ability to act on own initiative and follow policy guidelines 
  • Are you a self-driven, motivated person who can work autonomously and achieve set goals? 
  • Have strong administration skills, chasing goals and communicating with wide range of people 
  • Comfortable with having  KPIs and targets set
