Employee Relations Partner

Schedule: Monday - Friday, primarily 8:00am - 5:00pm
Location: Onsite at Boys Town, Nebraska

Come join the Boys Town HR Team! The Employee Relations Partner will support designated departments and/or geographical regions primarily in employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, and employment law and compliance. May additionally provide assistance with other HR functional areas, including benefits administration, talent acquisition, training, and onboarding.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Liaises between managers and employees to facilitate communication, handle questions, interpret situations, and solve work-related issues.

  • Provides guidance and education for internal stakeholders to build effective people and business strategies 

  • Provides proactive and responsive HR support to business leaders and employees Administers HR plans and procedures; assists in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

  • Facilitates meetings and training sessions related to topics that influence culture and retention to promote a positive employer-employee relationship 

  • Coaches, counsels, and guides managers about personnel practices, policies, and employment laws. 

  • Assists with administration of FMLA, ADA, unemployment and workers compensation. 

  • Responds to complaints, conducts investigations, counsels employees, assists with corrective actions, including coachings, warnings, suspensions, and terminations. 

  • Drafts and completes employee communications, corrective actions, and investigation reports; documents employee interactions. 

  • Manages and tracks employee relations activity utilizing case management software. 

  • Participates in compiling comprehensive metrics for data reporting and trend identification, ensuring that files are completed accurately and within time parameters. 

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits regulatory requirements. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Expert knowledge of employment and labor law.

  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills with excellent critical thinking, critical evaluation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR ethical practices, relationship management, critical consultations, and policy implementation. 

  • Ability to communicate at all levels in the organization and with external business contacts in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.

  • Ability to build and sustain trust to facilitate successful, professional relationships. 

  • Ability to translate complex data into understandable conclusions and recommendations, provide comprehensive consultations, to quickly make decisions in sensitive and sometimes critical areas, and to present decisions to appropriate individuals. 

  • Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity. 

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word; knowledge of employee relations management software (HR Acuity). 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources or related field required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Professional certifications in Human Resources preferred.

  • Experience with Workday preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks.  Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
