As a Employee Communications Representative – Level 2 located in McLean, VA, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. The preferred location for this role is McLean, VA. May consider one of the following major Space sector locations: Linthicum, MD, or Roy, UT.

Northrop Grumman’s Employee Communications team seeks an Employee Communications Representative who is confident in being a strategic advisor, thrives on the challenge of informing and inspiring employees around business priorities and culture, loves to story tell and constantly seeks to improve through disciplined measurement, analysis and adjustment. 

In this job, you will:

  • Support our efforts to inform and inspire employees as well as drive business priorities within the Space Systems sector
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to execute strategic campaigns that engage demographically and geographically diverse audiences, some of whom are difficult to reach
  • Write, draft, edit and help facilitate the design and distribution of internal materials, newsletters, employee feature stories and other engaging content
  • Be a storyteller – conceptualize, procure and produce a diverse array of inspirational content about our people, technologies, successes and business capabilities. Content will range from articles and videos, to interviews, Q&As, infographics, and photo/caption features
  • Represent employee communications on Space Systems Connected Storytelling team and maintain the team’s editorial calendar and content tracker
  • Draft talking points, speeches, slides, video scripts, employee announcements and executive summaries for senior leaders 
  • Proactively identify and track upcoming wins and milestones across the sector, and support the development and distribution of sector success stories, including amplification across the enterprise, where appropriate
  • Develop, implement and measure internal communications plans that inform and inspire employees, drive business goals and support sector and enterprise communications goals
  • Serve as a trusted partner to utilize the sector’s communications channels to convey priority messages and support of broader business priorities
  • Lead the piloting and implementation of employee communications measurement tools
  • Collect data and support analysis to improve our approach and the results of future communications, events and activities
  • Assist in the planning and execution of internal events including webcasts, site visits, conferences, leadership calls, all hands, and leadership engagements
  • Lead anniversary recognition program for Space Systems, partnering with key functions to receive data and distribute anniversary cards and executing 50-year anniversary recognition process
  • Manage, monitor and update distribution lists, intranet content and key resource mailboxes
  • Support change management communications activities 
  • Support maintenance of internal communications tools, including websites and digital signage monitors
  • Ensure all communications plans and tactics are consistent with the company’s strategic vision and reflect the Northrop Grumman brand 
  • Work with other Communications and Functional partners across the sector and corporation
  • Other duties as assigned

Ideally, you’ll bring some new ideas and formats we haven’t tried or thought of yet
  • Appreciate data and are disciplined in measuring the impact of our communications campaigns, plans and tactics
  • Enjoy making connections, creating integrated stories and providing the best exposure and experience for candidates, employees, partners and customers 
  • Have, or quickly develop, a good understanding of our business and can find and promote compelling stories about our people and our business 
  • Have a track record of developing and implementing successful communications campaigns 
  • Love all things related to space exploration, national security space technologies and science. 

  

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing with 0 years of professional experience
  • No clearance required to start
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong problem solving, organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Proficient in Associated Press Style. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience in employee, strategic or digital communications, journalism, marketing, public relations 
  • Experience with social media channels, audiences and practices 
  • Experience establishing and advancing an organization’s brand

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $65,500.00 - $113,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
