This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Family Definition:

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.

Management Level Definition:

Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving common and complex business/technical issues within established policies. Manages exempt individual contributors and/or supervisors. Has accountability for results of a major program in terms of cost, direction and people management. Provides guidance on process improvements and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy for area of responsibility. Plans, manages and monitors operational/tactical activities of Staff. Staff members' work may involve strategic issues. Recruits and supports development of direct staff members. Typically reports to MG2 or Director. 

Additional guidance/criteria: Manages and controls activities within a single country or a sub-region which is part of a larger geographical Region; Manages at least 4 employees and typically between 8 and 15 direct reports. Span of Control guidelines may differ from these numbers.

What you will do:

Responsibilities:

  • Leading development teams of size ~10-15 as a manager.
  • Define and lead execution and delivery of AOS-CX Switch OS roadmap for the team working with cross functional teams like PLM/TME, Customer Support, or Hardware / ASIC / Supply Chain etc. SW Feature Roadmap could be in the areas of Tools, OS infrastructure, Platform software, Data Path forwarding, Network & Security Protocols, Application Software, User Interfaces (CLI, Web, SNMP) or enablement/management of switch via Cloud management platform.
  • Balances technical depth with project execution to deliver efficiently. Pro-actively identifies potential risks, challenges and creates plans to mitigate/execute projects/program in a timely manner.
  • Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated.
  •  Ensure goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
  • Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.
  • Provides people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development.

What you need to bring:

Education and Experience Required:

  • BE/Btech/Mtech  with 10+ years of total experience and 3+ years of experience of people management

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Prior development experience in the areas of Networking, Embedded Systems, and programming languages like C/C++ and Scripting like PythonExperience in planning, scheduling, risk management for projects/program
  • Hands on experience of C/C++ development for Embedded Linux/RTOS, Knowledge of scripting language like Python.
  • Networking fundamentals, ethernet chipsets/MAC/Phy and respective drivers
  • Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team building, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Understanding of processor architectures such as ARM.
  • Experience in agile development methodology like SAFe, anchoring scrums and Scrum of Scrums etc
  • Strong collaborative skills to work with cross functional/hardware/ASIC teams
  • Experience with Boot loaders(U-Boot), Board bring up, diagnostics and low-level debugging using JTAG tools and gdb
