Collins Aerospace is looking to hire an Embedded Software Engineer to join our Tactical Communications Management Applications (TCMA) organization.

In this role you will be responsible for the design, development, integration and verification of military avionics solutions. You will also engage in the development of advanced architecture and algorithms to exploit and enhance the situational awareness and navigation capabilities of Military Helicopter pilots and crews.

You will be part of a team that supports the US ARMY’s 160th Special Operations Air (SOA) Regiment customer, US Marines, Coast Guard, and similar rotary wing programs. Our team implements command and control software for complex mission sensors like Aircraft Survivability, infrared camera sensors as well as weapons systems (Hellfire, Cannons, Rockets) embedded in helicopter cockpits. 

This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

What YOU will do:

  • Software integration, regression test, formal test execution and documentation for software test in areas such as software problem reports, change requests, software components, and software test scripts.
  • Perform in a cross-functional agile team to complete integration, verification and validation.  
  • Work in close coordination with other system and software engineers within the domain engineers on the team using Collins Aerospace engineering processes.
  • Must be willing to travel 1-2 times a year for Integration Events (Cedar Rapids or Huntsville).

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Software development or testing experience
  • Python scripting experience
  • Good communication skills with ability to clearly derive, write, and review System Requirements.
  • Avionics knowledge (development or usage)
  • AGILE development knowledge
  • DO-178 (or similar) certification-based development knowledge
  • Ethernet bus protocol knowledge (TCP/UDP)
  • Embedded Software experience
  • Mil-Std-1553B bus protocol knowledge
  • Graphical based verification knowledge
