The primary purpose of this position, ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER, WL-2610-12, is to lead WG-10 through WG-12 journeyman electronic mechanics in performing depot level maintenance on assigned workload and to fault isolate and repair various electronic systems, components, or subassemblies on the Minute Man III Re-entry System.

Major Duties:

  • Lead a team of trades and/or labor workers. Perform nonsupervisory trades and/or labor work that is usually of the same kind and level as members of the work crew led. Troubleshoot electronic systems, components, or subassemblies to determine nature of malfunction and corrective action required. Perform the final tuning, alignment, or calibration of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies. Perform Production Acceptance Certification (PAC) program duties.

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is: Ability to Lead or Supervise. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair etc. Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Theory of Electronics Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools-Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Considerable standing and bending required when performing work at bench. Testing work requires bending, stooping, and lifting various components weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works inside well lighted, heated, and ventilated shop area. Exposed to possibility of serious burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy, hot components, and to microwave radiation. Subject to cuts, bruises and scrapes from handling equipment and tools. Subject to travel as senior mechanic "as required" to repair and/or install electronic systems.
