The Electromagnetic and Network Systems Team at RTX Technology Research Center is a multidisciplinary team working in the research and development in RF and EO components and systems. We develop and execute programs focused on transitioning novel concepts from early technology stages to a state that impacts and influences businesses and applications. Our Team is looking for highly motivated individuals for the position of Electromagnetics research interns with emphasis applied electromagnetics, photonics integrated circuits or optics. The candidate should have strong academic credentials and experience working in a team environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate not only academic, but also interpersonal skills to help optimize our teams. Internship role at the Research Center provides graduate students the opportunity to get exposed to most challenging problems and cutting-edge technological advancements.

What You Will Do:

  • Modeling, prototyping, and testing RF / EO components, and systems
  • Multi-physics modeling which may involve RF, optics, photonics and additional physics
  • Utilizing modeling tools and testing equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results.
  • Providing support for technical reports and presentation.

What You Will Learn:

  • Measurement techniques including the use of test equipment such as vector network analyzers (VNAs), RF / optical spectrum analyzers, arbitrary waveform generator, etc.
  • Use of software tools such as Python and Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS) to control test equipment and manipulate test data
  • Data analysis and trouble-shooting techniques
  • Presentation skills to convey research results to a multi-disciplinary research group

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • A strong understanding of science and engineering principles, hands-on experience with design tools and test equipment for electromagnetics (e.g., field and circuit solvers in microwaves or photonics/optics)
  • Relevant course work on applied electromagnetics or photonics/optics.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Strong hands-on lab experiences specific to quantum sensing or photonic integrated circuit testing.
  • Computational electromagnetics
  • Programming skills including MATLAB, phyton, GPU-programing etc.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
