This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts you will be responsible for the top-level EMC, lightning, and RF integration and architecture for electrical and electronic systems on New Glenn. You will be responsible for defining and documenting the EME requirements for New Glenn electrical systems and components. You will lead design trades for system approaches for EMC, RF, static, and lightning tolerance. You will be responsible for developing verification strategies for electrical system design requirements for electromagnetic effects (EME) tolerance. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as responsible engineer for electrical system EME design and verification
  • Provide EME documentation describing system design strategies, requirements decomposition, and EMC testing
  • Develop design solutions and perform integrated system trades for EMC, lightning, electrostatic discharge, and RF
  • Contribute to vehicle, system, and component level requirements and verification for EMI/EMC, lightning, ESD, and RF
  • Lead system level test and analysis activities for EME
  • Perform risk reduction testing for EME based on industry standards
  • Document and evaluate post-test results and perform necessary analyses
  • Integrate technical work performed within the architecture team as well as operations and design teams

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years industry experience in aerospace system electrical design and verification for EME
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring and managing small, creative teams on fast-paced projects
  • Strong systems engineering background
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with MIL-STD-461G, AIAA-S-121 and DO-160G
  • Experience with program level design strategies and verification of EME threats
  • Familiarity with standards for grounding/bonding, EMI/EMC, lightning, ESD, and RF
  • Understanding of computational analysis for lightning effects in aerospace platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to obtain a top-secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years industry experience in aerospace design
  • Ability to troubleshoot test related issues down to the component level
  • Experience in the development of system engineering products such as requirements, interface control documents, and verification reports
  • Knowledge and experience with test methods for EMI/EMC, lightning strike, ESD, and RF
  • Experience in coordinating with regulatory authorities and creating compliance documentation
  • Strong familiarity with EMC/EMI circuit design techniques
  • Experience performing computational analysis for lightning effects in aerospace platforms
  • Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI


 

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $116,323.00-$162,851.85;WA applicants is $126,898.00-$177,656.85

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
