Job Description:
The Electrical Project Manager (EPM) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all electrical scope activities at the New Lock at the Soo Project located in Sault, Ste. Marie, MI. The EPM ensures the electrical systems are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with federal standards, safety regulations, and contract requirements.
The role requires leadership of a team, close collaboration with government representatives, design teams, subcontractors, and commissioning authorities to deliver complex electrical infrastructure supporting mission-critical facilities.
This role is required to be onsite (i.e. no remote work) at the New Lock at the Soo Project located in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage all electrical aspects of the project lifecycle, from design coordination through commissioning and closeout.
- Develop and maintain electrical project schedules, budgets, and procurement plans.
- Coordinate with general contractor leadership, field teams, and electrical subcontractors.
- Ensure electrical system compliance with federal construction requirements including:
- United States Army Corps of Engineers specifications
- National Electrical Contractors Association standards
- National Fire Protection Association codes such as the NFPA 70 National Electrical Code
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration safety requirements
- EM-385 safety requirements
- Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
Design & Engineering Coordination
- Review electrical design drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Coordinate with engineering teams for:
- Power distribution systems
- Backup power systems
- Lighting and controls
- Medium-voltage systems
- Low-voltage systems
- Grounding and lightning protection
- Manage RFIs, design clarifications, and design changes.
Procurement & Subcontractor Management
- Manage procurement of major electrical equipment such as:
- Switchgear
- Generators
- Transformers
- VFDs
- UPS systems
- Manage procurement and oversee electrical subcontractors and vendors.
- Evaluate bids, negotiate contracts, and track subcontractor performance.
Construction & Field Operations
- Support field teams during installation of electrical systems
- Conduct coordination meetings with: Electrical Superintendents, Foreman, Subcontractors, Engineers & Client
Commissioning & Turnover
- Support electrical commissioning activities including:
- Functional testing
- System integration
- Power reliability verification
- Coordination with commissioning agents
- Deliver as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and training for government personnel.
Other
- Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities.

Experience
- 10+ Years of experience in Electrical Project Management, Construction or Engineering
- 5+ Years of experience in large industrial, power, or federal contracting projects
- Previous work experience with USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, or other Federal Agencies is a positive
- Previous working relationship with IBEW is a positive
