EHS Specialist

We’re excited to be recruiting a hands-on, driven EHS Specialist to help protect our people, our plant and our environment within a regulated chemical manufacturing site.

Reporting to the EHSS Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading compliance, strengthening our safety culture and driving continuous improvement across EHS and Process Safety Management. This is a highly visible position with genuine influence across operations, engineering and site leadership.

What You’ll Do

You’ll ensure full compliance with COMAH, environmental permitting and corporate standards, acting as a key liaison with regulatory bodies and leading site governance activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading regulatory compliance, reporting and Responsible Care requirements
• Managing environmental permitting, waste compliance and sustainability initiatives
• Conducting risk and COSHH assessments and deploying effective mitigation plans
• Owning accident prevention programmes and emergency response readiness
• Leading incident investigations and delivering robust corrective actions (CAPA)
• Supporting and auditing ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 management systems
• Acting as SME for Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC)
• Analysing EHS data to drive performance and continuous improvement
• Delivering training and positively influencing behavioural safety across site

This is a collaborative, site-based role requiring daily engagement with operations, engineering and leadership teams.

About You

• Proven EHS experience within chemical manufacturing, ideally COMAH-regulated
• Strong knowledge of UK safety and environmental legislation
• Experience in risk assessment, COSHH, incident investigation and root cause analysis
• Exposure to environmental permitting, waste management and/or process safety (desirable)
• Experience auditing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems
• Analytical and detail-oriented, with strong risk-based decision-making skills
• Confident communicator able to influence and drive behavioural change
• IT literate (MS Office; SAP knowledge advantageous)
