Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an EH&S Engineer located in Guadalajara, North Site.
Reporting to the EH&S Manager, EH&S Engineer role involves responsible for supporting the implementation of routine activities related to the efficient management of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs in Facilities and manufacturing sites to ensure that the required company and government standards and regulations are met.
What a typical day looks like:
- Participate in meetings involving environmental safety, training, and awareness programs.
- Daily EHS Surveillance Inspections: Focus on maintaining safe clearance distances (typically >7 meters for 230 kV) and ensuring the use of specialized Arc Flash PPE
- Unsafe Condition Reporting: Identifying risks specific to high voltage, such as corona discharge, damaged insulators, or SF6 gas leaks in GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear)
- Emergency Equipment Review: Inspecting specialized fire suppression systems for oil-filled transformers and verifying the integrity of discharge sticks and grounding kits
- Signage Management: Ensuring clear labeling of voltage levels, "Danger High Voltage" warnings, and physical barriers for energized zones
- JSA (Job Safety Analysis) Verification: Reviewing risks for complex tasks like transformer oil sampling, breaker timing tests, or working at heights on gantries
- Document tracking of audits and agency inspections.
- Participate in accident report investigations and determine if the event was related to furniture, fixtures, or machinery, as well as how such accidents might be prevented in the future
- Conduct programs such as noise surveys, lighting continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, and other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance.
- Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
- Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies.
- Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health and safety.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor's degree in electromechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent experience in EH&S and knowledge of related regulations, codes, and guidelines.
- Experience in EH&S within a Facilities/manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Intermediate English
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures to promote safety in the workplace.
- Demonstrates advanced functional process knowledge and participates in the process.
- Use of the following tools may be required: Office Skills: telephones, data entry, office software, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation package
- Emergency medical certification and Hazmat are desired.
- Impacts the functional area's immediate operations.
- Executes and may provide input to functional processes or technologies.
- Assists in achieving section/sub-function objectives for a functional area.
- Demonstrates commitment to implement initiatives
