Job Description
Statutory Governance & Compliance
- Provide strategic leadership to ensure continuous compliance with all applicable Environment, Health, and Safety legislations at central and state levels.
- Ensure timely procurement, renewal, and maintenance of statutory approvals and licenses from MPPCB, PESO, and Fire Authorities.
- Oversee timely submission of statutory returns and ensure effective closure of all regulatory observations and conditions.
Environmental Management
- Provide overall governance of environmental operations, including ZLD, STP, hazardous waste, and biomedical waste management, in line with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Ensure implementation, testing, and periodic review of Integrated Contingency and Emergency Management Plans through structured mock drills.
- Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System/ ISO 45001 occupational health and safety (OH&S) management systems to support sustainability objectives.
Occupational Health Management
- Ensure effective functioning and statutory compliance of the Occupational Health Center and associated emergency medical services.
- Drive organization-wide health promotion, preventive care, and awareness programs for employees and contractual workforce.
- Ensure compliance with Biomedical Waste Management Rules and maintain coordination with authorized vendors.
- Establish and maintain strong liaison with hospitals and healthcare partners to ensure medical readiness at all times.
Safety Leadership
- Ensure compliance with the Factories Act,1948 and Madhya Pradesh Factory Rules, 1962 to safeguard employee and contractor safety.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with PESO and Fire NOC conditions within stipulated timelines.
- Lead site‑wide risk assessments of critical operations and high‑risk activities and ensure implementation of effective CAPA.
- Establish, review, and monitor Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for routine, non‑routine, and high‑risk jobs, ensuring hazards are identified, controls are implemented, and JSAs are effectively communicated and followed at the operational level.
- Strengthen safety governance and systems aligned with ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System requirements.
- Champion a strong safety culture across the organization by promoting visible safety leadership, proactive hazard reporting, near‑miss management, and behavioral‑based safety practices.
- Drive employee engagement through safety awareness initiatives, toolbox talks, leadership safety walks, and continuous reinforcement of “Zero Harm” mindset.
Vendor & Contractor EHS Management
- Provide governance to ensure EHS compliance of all contractors, vendors, and service providers operating at site.
- Ensure implementation of EHS work permit systems, contractor safety induction, and job‑specific training prior to commencement of work.
Audit, Training & FAA Responsibilities
- Plan, review, and oversee internal EHS audits, including compliance audits, system audits, and JSA effectiveness reviews, and ensure timely closure of findings through corrective and preventive actions.
- Support and lead external audits, statutory inspections, and ISO certification audits.
- Act as the Department FAA (Training Coordinator) and ensure compliance with organizational training governance, documentation, and effectiveness requirements.
Qualification & Experience
• BE in Chemical/Fire & Safety/Science post graduate; Safety Diploma as per the requirement of MP Rules.
• Mandatory hands-on experience on the implementation of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
• 17–20 years of EHS experience in Pharma manufacturing with leadership exposure.
