What you get to do:
- As an Educator(Guest Messaging), you will:
- Educate guests about veterinary medicine and conservation
- Interpret veterinary procedures in real-time, and at animal habitats throughout the park
- Facilitate animal and conservation related activities and demonstrations
- Create enrichment items for various species at the request of animal caretaker staff
- Lead tours of the Animal Care Center facility and promote tour products.
- Serve as a positive role model for internal and external guests by adhering to company standards on wardrobe, conduct, safety, cleanliness, and timeliness at all times
- Perform other duties as required – may include diet preparation, assisting with camps/tours operations, cleaning, etc
What it takes to succeed:
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid Driver’s License
- Working towards a degree or have a degree in Education, Animal Science, Psychology, Zoology or related field preferred but not necessary
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- Ability to provide outstanding guest service
- Ability to work 28 hours a week
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekday and weekend shifts, evenings, and holidays
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment: high heat, humidity, cold, etc.
What else is important:
- Able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- This position requires walking, standing, bending and overhead reaching
- Ability to work individually and/or within a team setting
- Ability to practice proper time management when given multiple tasks
- Perform cleaning duties, including use of cleaning chemicals
- Basic computer knowledge
- Experience working at a veterinary facility is preferred but not required
- Prior guest/customer service experience preferred
