Job Summary: The Primary Purpose of this Position is: To teach Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) classes to VA employees across several VA North Texas Health Care System facilities and perform a variety of educational, administrative, and technical duties in support of the Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP). The Organizational Location of the Position is: Workplace Violence Prevention Program, Mental Health Service, VA North Texas Health Care System, Dallas, TX (VANTHCS).

Major Duties:

  • Duties Include but are not limited to: The incumbent of this position serves as a fulltime Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) trainer and as an educational and administrative support for the Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP). To assist in the coordination of the TMS process for setting up PMDB trainings, including but not limited to scheduling classes, sending training class reminders, downloading class rosters, assigning TMS credit, and tracking class attendance. To help manage administrative aspects for the WVPP and all associated activities, programs, and related committees including the Disruptive Behavior Committee (DBC), and Employee Threat Assessment Team (ETAT). Assist in training and management of the facility's Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT) for inpatient units. Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/05/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Strong organizational and planning skills; Knowledge of Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) and Talent Management System (TMS); Knowledge of MS Word and Excel or comparable word processing and data analysis software; Strong verbal presentation and communication skills; Physical ability needed to instruct and train staff in all levels of Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
