AIG

Early Career - M&A Analyst (Denmark)

Bryggernes Plads 2, Copenhagen, Hovedstaden, DNK Full time

Kick-start your career in M&A Insurance as a Graduate Analyst in Copenhagen

Are you a recent law or business graduate looking to build a specialized career? AIG is expanding our Northern European Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team, and we are looking for a Graduate Analyst to join us in Copenhagen.

In this Early Career role, you will step directly into the engine room of complex M&A transactions. You will provide critical operational and administrative support to our local team, combining daily responsibilities with a structured learning path designed to turn you into a future M&A specialist.

What’s in it for you?

At AIG, we hire for the long term. This role is a dedicated Graduate position, meaning your development is our primary focus. Here is what you can expect:

  • The Graduate Program: You will be part of a structured Early Career development program, which includes formal training and networking events running alongside your daily job.

  • A Clear Path Forward: We view this role as your entry point to a specialized career. Once you have established a solid operational foundation and mastered the core tasks, you will have the opportunity to take on increased responsibility, working in closer tandem with our Underwriters on complex deal segments.

  • Hands-on Mentorship: You will be closely supported by experienced mentors from the broader team and will work side-by-side with two experienced Underwriters and a fellow M&A Analyst in Copenhagen.

  • International Exposure: You will report to the Head of M&A Northern Europe and become a fully integrated member of the broader European team.

  • Excellent Benefits: Enjoy a competitive compensation package, including pension, well-being benefits, and an additional 10 days of paid leave annually (five weeks + ten top-up days).

Your impact and responsibilities

As a Graduate Analyst, you are the operational foundation of the team. You ensure precision and speed in our administrative and preliminary analytical workflows. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Analytical Support: Providing critical analytical support for underwriting decisions on bespoke M&A insurance solutions (such as W&I, tax, and litigation insurance).

  • Transaction Analysis: Conducting initial analysis of M&A transactions, reviewing submissions and broker requests, negotiating NDAs and non-reliance letter, and preparing non-binding indications.

  • Deal Coordination: Supporting the underwriting team with administrative tasks and project coordination during fast-paced M&A deals.

  • System Accuracy: Ensuring our internal systems and deal-tracking tools are continuously updated and accurate to facilitate data driven decisions.

  • Continuous Development: As you progress, you will transition from support tasks to assisting in deeper risk assessments, allowing you to play an increasingly active role in the deal-lifecycle alongside the rest of the Northern European team.

What you’ll need to succeed

This is an entry-level position aimed at recent university graduates. We do not expect you to be an M&A expert from day one, but we expect you to be curious and highly precise.

  • An educational background in Law (e.g., Cand.jur. or Cand.merc.jur.) is preferred, preparing you to navigate complex legal documents. Recent graduates with a relevant finance, business or economics degree will also be considered.

  • You see yourself as being a structured problem-solver who thrives in a role where attention to detail is paramount.

  • An analytical mindset and a proactive approach to learning.

  • You see yourself as being energized by building professional relationships, approaching both colleagues and external partners with natural curiosity and an ability to listen and understand diverse interests.

  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (written and spoken) are required. Fluency in Danish or another Nordic language I preferred.

Meet the Team

You will join our highly specialized M&A team, working as a critical operational partner to our local underwriting team in Copenhagen, as well as the entire Northern European M&A unit.

While your local team is close-knit, you will report to the Head of M&A for Northern Europe and be a fully integrated member of the wider European team – a group of dedicated professionals across key European cities. This gives you the best of both worlds: direct, daily guidance from local colleagues, close support from your Early Career mentor and a broad international network to support your long-term career.

How to apply

No need for a lengthy cover letter. Send us your CV, including a short section on your motivation for joining our M&A team. We review applications on an ongoing basis.
