Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Solution Architect (Technical) with a strong background in Dynamics AX (on‑premises) and Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (cloud).The successful candidate will act as the technical authority for enterprise ERP solutions, owning end‑to‑end solution architecture, guiding technical design decisions, and leading migration and modernization initiatives from Dynamics AX to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. You will work closely with business stakeholders, functional leads, and delivery teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and upgrade‑safe technical solutions, while ensuring alignment with Microsoft best practices and enterprise architecture standards.

Fluency in English is required; additional languages are an advantage (preferred is Italian).

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership

Own the end‑to‑end technical solution architecture for Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations implementations. Act as the technical decision authority, defining architectural patterns, trade‑offs, and design standards.

Lead and participate in architecture reviews, design assurance, and technical governance.

Ensure solutions meet technical and operational requirements, including performance, scalability, security, availability, and compliance.

Migration & Modernization

Lead technical architecture and execution for Dynamics AX to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations migration and modernization projects.

Define extensibility, customization, and integration strategies aligned with cloud and upgrade‑safe principles.

Oversee data migration, transformation, and validation using the Data Management Framework (DMF) and related tooling.

Development (on the overview level), Extensibility & DevOps

Provide architectural guidance for custom development using X++ and Visual Studio.

Enforce extensibility‑first design and avoid over‑layering to ensure long‑term maintainability.

Define and govern CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies, and release management using Azure DevOps or GitHub.

Integration & Cloud Architecture

Design and govern integrations with third‑party systems using OData, Dual‑write, Business Events, Azure Logic Apps, and Power Platform.

Define synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns with a focus on resiliency and security.

Apply cloud‑native architecture principles and understand the impact of Azure services on ERP solutions.

Security, Compliance & Operations

Design and review security architecture, including role‑based security and Segregation of Duties (SoD).

Ensure alignment with enterprise security, data protection, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Support operational readiness, including monitoring, diagnostics, and lifecycle management using LCS.

Customer & Delivery Collaboration

Translate complex technical requirements into clear technical designs and solution options.

Work closely with customer stakeholders. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and quality oversight across delivery teams.

Required Experience

Extensive experience with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Dynamics AX in enterprise environments. Proven track record delivering ERP implementations and migration projects in a consulting or Partner setting.

Strong experience acting as a technical architect or lead on complex customer engagements. Experience with multi‑legal‑entity, multi‑country deployments is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

Deep knowledge of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations architecture, data models, and extensibility patterns.

Proficiency in X++, Visual Studio, and Dynamics development frameworks.

Experience with Azure DevOps, version control, CI/CD practices, and SDLC methodologies.

Strong understanding of ERP system administration, release management, and operational best practices.

Experience with Azure services, integration technologies, Power Platform, and enterprise reporting concepts (Power BI).

Knowledge of Dynamics 365 Project operations or Commerce is an advantage.

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues. Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Fluency in English is required; additional languages are a strong plus (preferably Italian or Spanish).

Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations certifications (development and/or administration) are highly desirable.

Strong understanding of cloud technologies and their impact on enterprise ERP solutions.
