Summary

Operates assigned vehicles in a safe and efficient manner. The primary vehicle operation is a golf cart or electric shuttle cart to meet mission requirements. Ensure passengers are seated correctly before and during vehicle operations. Ensures the highest possible safety standards are followed while transporting authorized passengers. Supervises the loading and off-loading of passengers at authorized shuttle points.

Major Job Functions

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job.  The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below.  In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:

  • Transports passengers safely and in a timely manner consistent with all Department Policies and Procedures using proper transport routes

  • Provides exceptional customer service to all patients and their guests while transporting passengers

  • Identifies vehicle equipment in need of repair and follows appropriate steps to repair and report deficiencies to Manager or Department Director

  • Observes passengers for any violations, health status changes, and safety concerns and reports these actions promptly

  • Conducts preventive maintenance checks and service (PMCS) on assigned vehicle

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Education and Formal Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record

Work Experience

  • 5 years of driving experience required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Excellent guest relations

  • Good problem-solving skills, organizations skills, flexibility

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to quickly assess situations and respond promptly and appropriately

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read and write, follow written and verbal directions

  • Ability to communicate orally

  • Ability to load/discharge passengers and secure wheelchairs or other equipment placed on vehicle

  • May require moderate to heavy lifting up to 25 pounds
