SUMMARY:

The Drafting & Design Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of engineers, designers, and supervisors to deliver high‑quality engineering designs, drafting, and analyses that support NGL & NGLs operations. This role applies advanced engineering expertise to ensure best‑in‑class technical execution, strong team performance, and alignment with departmental engineering and drafting standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages a team of engineers and designers, which may include supervisors, responsible for completing designs, performing engineering analyses, and drafting. Applies an advanced level of engineering knowledge and experience to mentor supervisors (as applicable), design engineers, and designers in the delivery of quality projects.

  • Ensures their team is responsive and develops a collaborative teamwork approach to consistently providing quality projects and support services.

  • Drives internal relationship building with project management teams and business partners through open communication and maintaining high performance expectations, joint ownership, and accountability on work performed.

  • Develops and oversees the department’s strategy and process for distributing workloads. Maintains a portfolio of projects that is within the capability and capacity of the team.

  • Acts as SME within NGL & NGLs on design and drafting practices. Responsible for generation and maintenance of drafting specifications and standards, code requirements, and industry best practices applicable to the design team.

  • Oversees the creation of infrastructure standard drawings and specifications while ensuring that applicable stakeholders are involved in the process.

  • Initiates recommendations, changes, and improvements to enhance department performance.

  • Seeks opportunities to promote employee development. Mentors personnel in the areas of CAD, engineering and design, and department goals and objectives.

  • Develops supporting design packages for mechanical, structural, civil or electrical portions of projects.

  • Proactively manages multiple concurrent projects while ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Develop and disseminate training on facility walkdown and P&ID revisions

  • Proficiency in CADWORX and Navisworks is preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required

  • 8 years of professional experience required

  • 2 years leadership experience preferred

  • Valid Driver's License required
