Job Summary: 

The Document Control Specialist reports to the Quality Control Engineering Manager. This role  processes related to Engineering Change Orders, New Material Creations, and Sellable Material Creations. The Document Control Specialist ensures that all changes to documentation and material data are communicated, documented, and executed effectively. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of the SAP Material Master, which supports essential business processes at Cognex. The specialist implements document control standards, manages version control, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely updates that enable smooth operations and decision-making.

Essential Functions:

  • Understanding of processing and reviewing Engineering Change Orders, including routing for approvals and monitoring status.
  • Understanding of processing and reviewing Sellable Material Creations, maintain Product Hierarchy, Salesforce characteristics, and SAP.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the Material Master.
  • Troubleshoots data issues with established procedures.
  • Provide input in continuous improvement activities to streamline Document Control processes. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with colleagues across various functions (primarily engineering, manufacturing, marketing and program management) is essential. 
  • Proficient in PC quality data entry, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. 
  • Experience with PLM systems (such as Oracle, SAP, PLM). Experience and proficiency with SAP and SAP PLM is a plus.
  • Solid communicator (both written and verbal) with ability to explain information with the stakeholders.
  • Previous work experience in documentation is desired.
  • Ensures data quality, commitment to accuracy, and strong attention detail is required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree preferred. 
  • Typically requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years of related experience.
