Divisional Risk Advisor, Global Risk & Security — Digital and Analytics Risk | Personal Investor
About the role and team
The Personal Investor (PI) Risk team within Global Risk & Security (GR&S) is seeking a Divisional Risk Advisor to provide risk expertise across PI’s products, services, and client experiences. PI serves 9 million retail clients and manages over $2T in assets, offering brokerage, cash, and digital investing solutions.
In this role, you will partner with our Digital and Analytics group to deliver practical risk guidance and assurance for new and existing PI initiatives. You’ll collaborate across business leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders (e.g., Digital and Analytics, Legal, Enterprise Risk Management, Cybersecurity, Compliance, Internal Audit, Technology) to embed strong risk frameworks that help PI deliver resilient, well‑controlled, and compliant client experiences.
What you’ll do
Advise and oversee risk using Vanguard’s operational and strategic risk frameworks; provide clear guidance, effective challenge, and assurance to divisional and enterprise partners.
Advance risk management effectiveness by setting measurable goals, tracking outcomes, and reporting progress that reduces exposure and strengthens controls.
Lead and support risk strategy to help shape and implement short‑ and long‑term risk plans aligned to team goals and standard policies/procedures.
Consult and facilitate with business leaders during change (e.g., new features, service launches, process redesign) to ensure risks are identified early and mitigated thoughtfully.
Build trusted relationships across PI and GR&S; listen to partner needs, translate risk concepts into practical actions, and communicate findings in plain, inclusive language.
Continuously improve conduct targeted reviews, evaluate control health, and share learnings that strengthen resilience and client trust.
Contribute to special projects and division priorities as needed.
What we’re looking for (qualifications)
Minimum 6+ years of related work experience, including 3+ years in risk management (experience may come from operational risk, compliance, audit, or adjacent domains).
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree is preferred, not required.
