Eli Lilly Canada is currently searching for a capable District Sales Manager in the Ontario South region to support Lilly Canada’s cardiometabolic health (CMH) portfolio.  The District Sales Manager’s primary objective is to exceed sales targets through leading people.  They are the champion for our customers and a source of energy and passion for our sales team.  This role leads a team of established sales professionals based in Ontario South and is responsible for developing the sales team, including recruiting & hiring members when needed. 

The District Sales Manager's role is to coach and engage our sales consultants. Provide opportunities to develop skills and hold the team accountable for the delivery of the sales plan. You will create well-designed district action plans that set high expectations for your team and you will monitor progress towards these goals.  You will also work effectively with cross functional team members within the organization, with key external healthcare providers and stakeholders.  You will have a passion for customer service that inspires your team and take an active role in positively contributing to success across the entire sales team.


Specifically the District Sales Manager for Ontario South is responsible for:

Business development:

  • Delivering on District sales targets in an ethical manner respecting the compliance environment and Lilly's core values.

  • Developing a district action plan that is aligned to promoted brands and business unit strategy.

  • Setting clear performance goals with a road map for achieving them.

  • Coaching your team to high performance, including development of selling skills and implementation of omnichannel customer engagement plans.

  • Recruitment and development of sales consultants that contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture.

  • Providing superior customer experiences through tracking and evaluating execution of customer plan's.

  • Engagement and recognition of the team.

  • Ensuring sales insights are brought into the customer planning process.

  • Personally building professional relationships with key CMH Thought Leaders in the district.

  • Driving innovative thinking across the sales team to respond to the changing environment.

  • Managing and adhering to the Ontario South district sales budget.

  • Ensuring the team understands the current compliance environment and operates with integrity holding the team accountable for deviation from compliance expectations.

  • Challenging processes that negatively impact on customer experience.

Requirements: Education and Experience

  • University degree

  • Must have min. of 3-5 yrs of Pharmaceutical or Medical sales experience

  • External candidates must have a min of 5+ years of experience leading people as a sales manager

  • Preference for internal candidates with people management experience

  • Preference for CMH disease state knowledge

  • Preference for experience in cross functional roles supporting Sales

  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching and communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills to make data driven decisions - strategic territory management experience

  • Demonstrated Thought Leader management capability

  • Demonstrated understanding of value-based interactions and omni-channel engagement

  • Proficient with use of industry standard IT hardware/software

  • Preference for bilingual (French and English)

  • Must live within the district

  • Travel where overnight is required – approx. 10% on avg but could be as high as 50% during peak times (sales meetings, conference attendance etc.)
