See yourself in our team

Trade & Working Capital (T&WC) sits at the heart of Business Banking’s strategy. As a core offering for our customers, we provide the full spectrum of working capital and traditional trade finance solutions — helping businesses access liquidity, manage trade-related risk, and improve operational efficiency.

As part of a team with strong organisational backing and clear strategic importance, you’ll be surrounded by people who want you to succeed and empowered to make a real impact.

Do work that matters

As a senior member of our T&WC Distribution team, you will play a critical role in growing market share across our Major Client Group — some of Australia’s largest and most sophisticated corporates.

You’ll lead origination by creating new external networks, deepening existing ones, and partnering closely with bankers to deliver tailored solutions. By being truly customer obsessed, you will help position the Commonwealth Bank as the Business Bank of choice for large corporate customers.

As our Director – Trade & Working Capital Business Development, you will:

  • Win new-to-bank customers through proactive origination and strategic use of your network and referral partners.
  • Grow the Trade & Working Capital portfolio by establishing new facilities that meet the complex needs of large corporate clients.
  • Strengthen CBA’s brand and influence by partnering with key internal stakeholders across Business Banking.
  • Lead high-quality deal execution, including structuring and negotiating complex Trade & Working Capital solutions.
  • Maintain a robust growth pipeline, ensuring opportunities convert to executed transactions that deliver on customer needs.
  • Identify new growth pathways and help shape how we serve the Major Client Group.
  • Take a holistic approach to customer needs, identifying cross-sell opportunities to enhance the customer experience.
  • Ensure strong portfolio quality, aligning new business with our strategic objectives and sustainability principles.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to represent and champion our Trade & Working Capital strategy.
  • 5+ years’ experience in business development or sales within banking — ideally in cash-flow lending, receivables finance, structured trade, working capital, or trade finance.
  • Proven ability to drive growth, from strategy through to execution.
  • A track record of influencing senior stakeholders and building strong relationships across complex organisations.
  • High-level problem-solving capability and commercial acumen.
  • Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex customer data and recommend appropriate structures.
  • A growth mindset, resilience, and openness to trying new things in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A relevant Business or Finance degree or diploma.
