Multiomics Sales Specialist - Italy
Location: Milan area ideal location — alternatively, any area with good transport connections that allows for effective coverage of the territory may be considered.
The role
Multiomics integrates data from multiple biological layers—genomics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, and proteomics—to drive discovery and deepen our understanding of molecular mechanisms in development, cellular responses, and disease. Illumina offers next-generation sequencing (NGS) solutions to power the next wave of multiomics research and analysis.
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Multiomics Specialist to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise across multiomics technologies, including genomics, transcriptomics (spatial and single-cell), epigenetics, and proteomics. As a Multiomics Sales Specialist, you will drive revenue growth by promoting our comprehensive portfolio to academic and clinical institutions, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies across your assigned territory (primarily Italy, with occasional coverage of Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, Malta, and Cyprus).

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Sales Specialist for Multiomics , to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multiomics technologies (genomics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, and proteomics). 

As a Sales Specialist – Multiomics, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth by promoting our comprehensive suite of multiomics  products and services to academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, and healthcare within Italy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic business plan for the multiomics segment in the assigned territory.
  • Expand and nurture a network of service providers dedicated to our multiomics products.
  • Train and enable the sales team, strengthening their understanding of Illumina’s multiomics value proposition.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, providing expert guidance to support their multiomics research and scientific goals.
  • Leverage the Milan Solution Center to host events positioning Illumina as the preferred NGS partner in multiomics research.
  • Stay informed about emerging multiomics trends to shape effective sales strategies.
  • Drive sales activities by providing technical expertise throughout the sales cycle, including consultations on applications, assay design, and data analysis or interpretation.
  • Identify and evaluate sales leads, develop new business opportunities, and cultivate strong relationships with key decision-makers in the multiomics community.
  • Deliver engaging product presentations and lead consultative discussions to highlight the value of our integrated multiomics solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with other Sales Specialists, Account Managers (TAMs, ISAMs), and District Sales Managers (DSMs) to align with strategic territory plans.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, product management, strategic growth, service, and support teams to ensure alignment between customer needs and company objectives.
  • Represent Illumina at conferences, trade shows, and industry events to enhance brand visibility, build thought leadership, and engage potential customers.
Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in at least two omics disciplines (transcriptomics (single cell, spatial), epigenetics, and proteomics).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with a genuine passion for omics technologies.
  • Proven ability to identify customer needs, communicate value, and lead successful sales engagements.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences, bioinformatics, molecular biology, or a related field; a Ph.D. is a strong advantage.
  • Willingness to travel across the assigned territory (primarily Italy, with occasional coverage of Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, Malta, and Cyprus).); approximately 60% travel required.
  • Fluency in business English and Italian is required.
