Job Title :  Director – Total Rewards

Location : Gurugram

Role Summary

The Director – Total Rewards is a senior leadership role responsible for owning and shaping the Total Rewards strategy for India, aligned with global frameworks and local market dynamics. This role leads compensation, benefits, executive rewards, and compliance while partnering closely with India leadership, Global Total Rewards, HRBPs, Finance, Legal, and external vendors.

The role is critical in enabling business growth, talent attraction, retention, and pay‑for‑performance outcomes with strong focus on governance, scalability, analytics, and employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Total Rewards Strategy & Leadership

  • Own and drive the India Total Rewards strategy, aligned with global philosophy and local business priorities
  • Act as the India Total Rewards leader and SME, influencing senior leaders on reward design, competitiveness, and workforce costs
  • Translate global reward strategies into India‑specific, compliant, scalable programs
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the India Total Rewards team (Compensation & Benefits)

2. Compensation & Executive Rewards

  • Lead job architecture, grading, and salary structures aligned with global frameworks
  • Oversee annual compensation cycles (merit, promotion, bonus, incentives) for India
  • Provide strategic guidance on executive compensation, retention programs, and pay‑for‑performance models
  • Partner with Finance on reward costing, budgeting, and workforce planning
  • Drive market benchmarking using surveys (Mercer, Aon, WTW, etc.) and internal analytics

3. Benefits, Wellbeing & Retirement Programs

  • Own the design and governance of India benefits programs, including:
    • Health & wellness
    • Retirement (PF, gratuity, superannuation)
    • Insurance, leave, and voluntary benefits
  • Ensure benefits are cost‑effective, competitive, compliant, and employee‑centric
  • Manage strategic vendor relationships, renewals, and negotiations
  • Partner with global teams to support benefits harmonization and innovation

4. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with Indian labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements
  • Lead internal audits, risk assessments, and policy governance related to rewards
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and Compliance teams on regulatory changes and implications

5. Stakeholder Management & Advisory

  • Act as a trusted advisor to India leadership and HR Business Partners
  • Support M&A, restructuring, and transformation initiatives from a rewards perspective
  • Influence global stakeholders with India market insights and data‑backed recommendations
  • Drive strong change management and communications around rewards programs

6. Analytics, Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Leverage HRIS and rewards analytics to drive insights and decisions
  • Monitor trends in pay equity, rewards effectiveness, and employee value proposition
  • Continuously evaluate and improve programs based on data, feedback, and market trends
  • Support global initiatives related to digitization and automation of rewards 

Key Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Finance, or related field
  • MBA or Master’s degree preferred

Experience

  • 18+ years of progressive HR experience with deep expertise in Total Rewards
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing compensation & benefits at scale
  • Experience in large global, matrixed organizations (HR services, IT services, BPO, consulting, or HR tech preferred)
  • Strong exposure to India rewards landscape with global alignment experience
