About the Role
We’re looking for a strategic and results-driven leader to join our team as Director, Telematics Operations. In this role, you will lead the execution, scale, and continuous improvement of Element’s telematics operations across the US and Canada. Reporting to the VP, Vehicle Acquisition, you will ensure telematics operational processes, data readiness, and service delivery reliably enable connected mobility initiatives. You will be accountable for operational performance, workforce effectiveness, vendor execution, measurable automation of manual processes, and disciplined delivery against the connected mobility strategy established by the VP, Connected Mobility.
What You’ll Do
Lead telematics operations across multiple locations, ensuring consistent execution, quality, and performance.
Execute the telematics and connected mobility strategy defined by the VP, Connected Mobility.
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing telematics operations team, including workforce planning, capacity modeling, and staffing strategies aligned to acquisition demand and client adoption cycles.
Partner with Vehicle Acquisition, Connected Mobility, Commercial, Shared Services, Technology, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure seamless telematics execution and support client engagements and escalations.
Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to modernize operations through automation and digital enablement.
Own telematics vendor performance management, including service quality, cost, scalability, and issue resolution.
Develop and execute a telematics simplification, automation, and digital enablement roadmap aligned to Connected Mobility and Vehicle Acquisition priorities.
Deliver measurable year-over-year reduction in manual telematics processing, improving cycle time, accuracy, cost per activation, and overall service quality.
Own operational execution of telematics-related financial processes, including SOC-compliant controls, billing issue resolution, client enrollment accuracy, and vendor billing audits.
Provide operational support to the VP, Vehicle Acquisition and VP, Connected Mobility on telematics-related initiatives and participate in enterprise projects as required.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in telematics, connected vehicle services, fleet technology, or data-driven mobility operations, with demonstrated success scaling operations, managing telematics platforms and vendors, and delivering measurable improvements in activation, data quality, automation, and client adoption.
Demonstrated experience building and leveraging operational dashboards and performance reporting tools to drive measurable improvements.
Proficiency in Power BI (or similar business intelligence platforms) with the ability to design, analyze, and present data-driven insights to executive stakeholders.
Experience managing vendors, platforms, and complex operational workflows.
Demonstrated ability to modernize operations through automation and digital enablement.
Strong financial acumen and experience managing operational budgets.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven ability to execute and scale telematics operations in a multi-vendor, multi-platform environment, delivering reliable activation, data readiness, and service quality at scale.
Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
Strong operational decision-making skills with direct impact on service quality, cost per activation, vendor performance, and client onboarding outcomes.
Demonstrated capability to modernize operations through automation, workflow optimization, and elimination of manual processes with measurable results.
Experience leading and developing multi-location teams and third-party partners with accountability for performance, capacity, and results.
Ability to operate independently in complex, ambiguous environments while executing against connected mobility strategy and enterprise priorities.

Current Location: Mississauga. Our Mississauga office will move to 1 Adelaide in Toronto in September 2026.
The hiring base salary range for this position is $133,400 to $183,400 CAD annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is solely for candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
