The Director of Sustainability – Supply Chain sets strategic direction and leads the execution of environmental sustainability across the global supply chain. The role, positioned in the procurement team, drives measurable reductions in carbon emissions and environmental impact by embedding sustainability into sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, and supplier partnerships. It advances science‑aligned decarbonisation and elevates supply‑chain sustainability performance while strengthening environmental data visibility and reporting.
1. Supply Chain Sustainability Strategy and Implementation
Define and lead the environmental sustainability vision for the end‑to‑end supply chain, ensuring alignment with corporate climate and environmental commitments.
Translate sustainability strategy into actionable roadmaps across procurement, manufacturing operations, logistics, and distribution functions.
Partner within Supply Chain to drive supply‑chain decarbonisation through validated initiatives such as:
Freight mode optimisation and lower‑carbon transport
Renewable‑energy integration in supply‑chain sites
Material‑ and process‑level emissions reductions
Energy‑efficiency programs across owned and outsourced operations
Lead multi‑year Scope 1, 2, and 3 decarbonisation pathways with specific focus on high‑impact upstream materials and transport networks.
Embed environmental sustainability into supply‑chain governance, risk assessment, and operational decision‑making.
2. Supplier Environmental Sustainability Leadership
Set clear environmental expectations for suppliers, including emissions measurement, reporting, performance thresholds, and continuous improvement targets.
Build and lead supplier sustainability development programs that accelerate emissions reduction, energy efficiency, and environmental innovation.
Develop frameworks, playbooks, and tools that enable suppliers to quantify, analyse, and improve environmental performance.
Partner with category managers to integrate environmental performance into sourcing strategies, supplier segmentation, and business reviews.
3. Environmental Reporting & Analytics
Own environmental data, analytics, and reporting across all supply‑chain scopes, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with global standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi).
Develop advanced supply‑chain sustainability analytics, dashboards, and forecasting tools to monitor performance against science‑aligned pathways.
Provide high‑quality insights and scenario modelling to senior leadership to inform strategic decisions, capital allocation, and operational planning.
Ensure supply‑chain environmental data is audit‑ready and seamlessly integrated into enterprise‑level reporting and disclosures.
4. Corporate Representation & Strategic Influence
Serve as the senior environmental sustainability voice for the supply chain at enterprise governance forums, ESG committees, and executive‑level discussions.
Influence and shape corporate sustainability strategies by providing credible, data‑driven insights rooted in supply‑chain realities and opportunities.
Collaborate with Legal, Risk & Compliance, Finance and Product team to ensure cohesive and aligned environmental outcomes.
Monitor global best practices, regulatory trends, technological advancements, and industry benchmarks to ensure the supply chain remains ahead of emerging expectations.
Represent the company externally with regulators, industry alliances, supply‑chain coalitions, and sustainability networks as appropriate.
Tertiary qualification in sustainability, engineering, supply chain, environmental science, or a related technical or commercial discipline.
10+ years’ experience in sustainability, supply chain, procurement, or operations, including senior leadership roles in complex global environments.
Proven experience defining and executing environmental sustainability strategies across end‑to‑end supply chains (sourcing, manufacturing, logistics).
Demonstrated leadership of Scope 1, 2, and 3 decarbonisation initiatives, delivering measurable emissions and environmental impact reduction.
Strong working knowledge of global sustainability standards and frameworks, including GHG Protocol, SBTi, and audit‑ready environmental reporting.
Experience delivering sustainability or decarbonisation programs within global manufacturing, med‑tech, or highly regulated supply chains.
Hands‑on experience addressing upstream Scope 3 emissions across high‑impact materials and transport networks.
Track record of building supplier sustainability expectations, governance, and improvement programmes in partnership with procurement teams.
Experience embedding environmental performance into sourcing strategies, supplier segmentation, and business review processes.
Familiarity with advanced sustainability data, analytics platforms, and scenario modelling to support executive decision‑making.
