Your role:

This role leads local DSP relationships and ensures data-driven decision-making across the organization through strategic oversight of the Data & Insights function. The incumbent is also responsible for supporting monthly digital revenue forecasts in partnership with local Finance and global Business Intelligence teams.

Reporting into the President of Warner Music Canada, the Director will also work closely with Marketing, Digital Strategy and our ADA teams to translate consumption trends into scalable commercial outcomes while positioning WMC for long-term growth in a rapidly evolving digital marketplace.

Here you’ll get to:

Streaming Strategy:

  • Own and evolve WMC’s streaming strategy with accountability for revenue growth, market share expansion, and long-term value creation across DSPs.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of Streaming Partner Managers responsible for day-to-day relationships with key platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube and additional DSPs.
  • Represent the Streaming function in senior-level meetings, providing strategic guidance and commercial perspective.
  • Maintain deep expertise in DSP business models, algorithms, and monetization mechanics to ensure WMC is maximizing opportunity across discovery, engagement, and revenue levers.
  • Lead strategic planning around quarterly business reviews and ongoing partner strategy sessions, elevating DSP relationships beyond execution into true commercial partnerships.
  • Stay informed on digital partner deal structures, licensing developments, and platform innovations, proactively educating internal stakeholders on implications and opportunities.
  • Monitor competitive dynamics, consumer demand shifts, economic indicators, and emerging trends impacting streaming performance and monetization.

     

Data & Insights:

  • Provide senior-level oversight and strategic direction to the Data Manager and broader Data & Insights function.
  • Partner with Data Manager to ensure streaming, sales and audience data are translated into actionable commercial strategies rather than siloed reporting.
  • Guide the development and evolution of forecasting models, ensuring they align with business priorities, revenue targets, and partner strategies.
  • Ensure dashboards, reports, and OKR tracking provide executive-ready visibility into performance against business goals.
  • Leverage insights around consumption patterns, emerging markets, genre trends, and platform performance to inform growth initiatives and strategy
  • Champion a data-driven culture across Marketing, A&R, Digital Strategy, and Commercial teams -using insights to shape release strategy, marketing investment, and artist development.
  • Review and pressure-test strategic recommendations presented by the Data Manager, ensuring clarity, commercial relevance, and alignment with company objectives.
  • Translate complex platform and data insights into clear, compelling narratives for senior stakeholders.
     

About you:

  • 8–10+ years of experience in digital music, streaming strategy, audience analytics, or commercial partnerships within the music, media, or entertainment industries.

  • Deep understanding of the streaming ecosystem and the role of major DSPs such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube in driving music discovery, fan engagement, and revenue growth.
     
  • Proven ability to develop and execute streaming or digital consumption strategies that drive audience growth, market share, and commercial performance.
     
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience interpreting streaming, sales, and audience data to identify trends, inform strategy, and support business decisions.
     
  • Experience working with music and digital analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Chartmetric, DSP analytics dashboards, and internal data platforms).
     
  • Understanding of algorithmic discovery, editorial and user-generated playlists, and platform engagement mechanics that influence streaming performance.
     
  • Experience managing or mentoring team members and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders including Marketing, A&R, Finance, Digital Strategy, and Data & Insights teams.
     
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data and platform insights into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.
     
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and constantly evolving digital landscape.
     
  • Curiosity and passion for emerging trends in streaming, digital platforms, and audience behavior.
     
  • Strong passion for music across genres; experience working with artists, managers, and label teams is considered an asset.
