Are you passionate about testing methodologies and software and service releases? Reporting to the Vice President of IT Infrastructure and Operations, you will oversee all aspects of software testing, quality assurance, and release management processes within LCBO.

You will provide leadership to the TCoE and Release Management teams, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. The Director will develop and implement strategic plans for the teams to be aligned with organizational goals. Ensure that the TCoE teams' efforts are comprehensive and effective in identifying defects and ensuring software quality. The Director will work with the Release Management team and with cross-functional teams to plan and schedule software releases and manage test environment usage ensuring alignment with business priorities and customer needs.

About the Role

Testing Services Function (30%)

  • Oversee the planning and execution of the Testing Centre of Excellence (TCOE) and software testing activities, including functional testing, regression testing, performance testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Ensure that testing efforts are comprehensive and effective in identifying defects and ensuring software quality.
  • Drive Automation and Performance Testing process adoption across all project, application and service delivery teams.

Release Management (30%)

  • Manage the end-to-end release management process, including environment assignments, release planning, coordination, and deployment activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and schedule software releases, ensuring alignment with business priorities and customer needs.

Continuous Improvement (25%)

  • Drive the adoption and integration of new and modern Testing and Release processes
  • Drive the adoption of Testing as a Service (TaaS)
  • Mentor team members, empowering them to adopt and integrate processes.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, streamlining, and efficiency gains in testing and release activities.

Planning and Financials (15%)

  • Take accountability for managing, planning, and forecasting the annual operating budget for the IT Service Management portfolio, ranging from $5-10M+.
  • Manage and analyze financial, business, and operational information to identify insights, areas of improvement, and strategic and financial impacts.
  • Monitor and report on all relevant metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent job-related experience.
  • 8+ years of experience Application, IT testing and release management roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
  • Deep understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and tools
  • Certification(s)/designation(s) in ITIL, (CAST (Certified Associate in Software Testing), ISTQB Certification, CMST (Certified Manager of Software Testing) or CSTE (Certified Software Tester),
