The Regional Director position is focused on leading a branch of Sales Representatives, monitoring day-to-day operations and sales strategy as well as continuous employee training and development in the Troy office. Reporting directly to the VP of Sales, the Regional Director will act as an advocate and liaison for both their team and the management group, in addition to producing month over month growth. This position will be heavily involved in Full Truckload logistics services with oversight and knowledge of LTL freight. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Leading 3-5 direct reports at management level, 50-100 indirect reports at individual contributor level 

  • Further develop branch reps industry knowledge and overall sales strategy 

  • Meet and exceed monthly GP and P&L Goals 

  • Responsibility for the recruitment of office staff; interviewing, employee on boarding, training and development 

  • Ensure that each team member understands the primary functions of Echo's technology 

  • Lead weekly coaching meetings 

  • Develop lead generation ideas and strategies with each member 

  • Dotted line to manage Operations and Carrier teams in Troy office 

  • Monitor sales reps pipeline to ensure proper lead management 

  • Speak with top customers to improve customer retention 

  • Conduct monthly one on one meetings 

  • Assist reps in creating a career path 

  • Discuss motivational methods and tactics that will motivate individual reps 

  • Create organizational plan for each rep to ensure they are managing time efficiently 

  • Attend weekly management meetings, prepared to discuss successes and concerns 

  • Lead IT release trainings with teams 

  • Act as a liaison between reps and management, escalating an issue if the need arises 

  • Ensure that customers are receiving client statements and invoices in a timely manner 

  • Complete analysis and related ad hoc projects as requested by upper management 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain/logistics or related field 

  • Experience managing revenues of 50MM 

  • Ability to handle branch revenue and headcount growth 

  • 5+ years managing a sales team 

  • 5+ years managing managers 

  • 5+ years industry experience within a brokerage, 3PL 

  • Ability to manage between departments 

  • Strong business development skills with history in both inside and outside sales 

  • Experience in various modes of transportation (Truckload, LTL, Air/Ocean) 

  • Ability to inspire, develop and manage a team 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels 

  • Experience managing successful customer relationships and track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals 

  • Well versed in the domestic freight market 

  • Understanding of industry terminology, methods, and procedures 

  • Very organized and detail-oriented 

Work environment/physical demands summary:

This job operates in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office with an open seating floor plan. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.
