What You Will Contribute:
 

The Corporate Director of Quality is responsible for defining, improving, and maintaining Badger Meter quality systems and providing leadership and technical direction ensuring the effective coordination and execution of projects as they relate to the quality of our processes, services, and products within our U.S. and foreign operations. This role is critical in supporting all Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Culture, Environmental, and Continuous Improvement initiatives, and metrics.  This includes the ability to work with internal and external customers to support Badger Meter’s corporate values and goals.

Job Duties:

  • Establish capabilities in Group Quality Engineering - Quality Systems (QSE), Advanced Quality (AQE), and Product Reliability (RPE).

  • Direct Quality Data Analytics: Support a multi-site SQDCCE environment, establish and maintain quality metrics, guide a knowledge transfer strategy that creates "how to" manuals for users and developers.  

  • Support New Product Development (NPD) teams to identify, schedule, and execute all quality related deliverables.  

  • Establish launch/post launch data analytics ensuring quality system preparedness of people, process, and systems.  

  • Provide Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) guidance to NPD, Group, and Site teams.  

  • Provide technical guidance to create, review, and improve Badger Meter quality acceptance standards (QAS). Identify key industry standards and leverage them to drive uniformity within Badger Meter practices.  

  • Identify opportunities for the improvement of quality procedures, product designs, manufacturing processes, and equipment. Continually drive to improve product uniformity while eliminating/minimizing non-conformances.  

  • Provide direct leadership for the Group Quality team and dotted line responsibility for Site Quality functions in the achievement of departmental goals and activities.

  • Identify and support training needs with APQP, problem-solving, root cause analysis, process capability, measurement system analysis, and other data analytic techniques. Preferred problem-solving methodologies; 8-Step, 8D, and/or A3. Mentor group and site quality teams to develop skills and expand capabilities.  

  • Establish and foster key relationships throughout the organization enabling effective performance to execute on commitments and deliver results while driving critical issues simultaneously.  

  • Maintain a safe working environment (within the department and across the sites).  

  • Up to 10% travel required.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field required.

  • 10+ years of experience in Quality, Engineering or a related field desired; significant experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.


Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt (SSGB) and/or Shanin Red X Journeyman certification required.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt and/or Shanin Red X Masters certification strongly preferred.

  • Lean 101 preferred

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership capability with the ability to shape and drive change require

  • Ability to maintain professional level and technical skills through memberships in technical and professional societies, and by attending appropriate courses and seminars required

  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office and related products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio) required

  • Intermediate knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) required

  • Intermediate proficiency with Statistical Process Techniques, Failure Analysis, and Process Validation. Advanced data analytic techniques utilizing Excel, Minitab, MicroStrategy, PowerBI, SQL required

  • Advanced Practitioner Lean - Six Sigma required

  • Intermediate knowledge in Quality Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025, AS9100) required

  • Advanced knowledge and Experience with Coordinated Measuring Machine (CMM) and Quality Assurance measure and test equipment preferred

  • Strong problem solving skills, preferred techniques; 8-Step, 8D, and/or A3 required

  • Ability to multi-task and drive critical issues simultaneously required

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing/office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment
