What is the opportunity?
We are seeking a results-driven and analytically rigorous leader to oversee consolidated performance management reporting, planning, and forecasting for the Commercial Bank. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the senior finance leadership team, supporting and managing initiatives led by the Personal and Commercial Banking Platform team. As a strategic co-pilot, you will drive financial insights and thought leadership to influence business outcomes while upholding financial integrity and accuracy. What will do you?
- Manage a high-performing team (1 direct report) to deliver consolidated performance management reporting (month-end, quarter-end deliverables).
- Serve as the primary finance contact for Personal & Commercial Platform Finance and Head Office Performance Management
- Lead end-to-end Performance Management for the Commercial Banking segment, including month-end and quarter-end reporting, monthly forecasting, annual planning and 5-year strategic outlooks
- Collaborate with the Business Credit, Business Deposits, Corporate Treasury, Canadian Banking Platform Finance and Head Office Performance Management to support value-add reporting
- Partner with Financial Control and Product Control to ensure financial integrity of reported results and compliance with accounting standards
- Identity and implement enhancements to month-end and quarter-end reporting processes, forecasting and planning workflows
- Own coordination and consolidation of the Annual Plan for Commercial Banking including managing timelines, overall narrative and deliverables for key finance and business stakeholders.
- Prepare Investor Q&A and quarterly earnings pack for Group Head of Commercial Banking including supplementary financial pack review and MD&A
- Co-lead the coordination and production of the Commercial Banking Quarterly Business Review shared with the Group Head of RBC Commercial Banking and RBC’s CEO
- Acting as a strategic co-pilot, partner with the Commercial Banking SMT to drive actionable insights and strategies, support business case analysis, evaluate product profitability and spreads, client segment performance, client profitability and risk-adjusted return on capital
- Translate financial results into clear, executive-ready narratives for board materials, investor day commitments and reporting.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Advanced credentials (MBA, CFA, CPA) are strongly preferred.
- Leadership & Executive Presence: 8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A or Commercial Banking, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated ability to inspire teams through clear vision, talent development, and future-focused growth.
- Strategic Influence: Proven track record of collaborating in a matrixed environment, influencing stakeholders, and driving outcomes through strong interpersonal skills and trust-based partnerships.
- Operational Agility: Expertise in managing competing priorities under tight deadlines, navigating change, and communicating priorities clearly to teams and partners.
- Executive Communication: Demonstrated ability to prepare and present financial content for senior leadership.
- Technical Proficiency: Exceptional financial modeling, data analysis, and communication skills. Experience with tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Thinkcell, EPM, and PeopleSoft is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in a financial institution is essential.
