Overview of role purpose & scope: The purpose of this role is to own and drive the people and communications agenda for their area of responsibility. Focus is on strategic business partnering by advising, coaching and developing the respective leadership teams. The role is positioned at unit level, is part of the cluster/unit leadership team and leads the people and communications team across the cluster/unit.

Key responsibilities for this role:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand business objectives and direction. Translate business understanding into people and communications priorities.
  • Successfully define, drive and own the people and communications agenda so that it is aligned with KONE’s strategic direction (for both business and people) and develops KONE as great place to work.
  • Advise and coach business in decision-making, active member of the leadership team.
  • Support the business transformation through high performance culture build-up.
  • Ensure the internal communications support strategy execution within the responsibility area. Provide directions for internal communications.     
  • Own, execute, and measure required people operations in accordance with local labor laws (e.g., payroll, and legally required local people related administration).
  • Lead and develop local HR team so that they are able to perform well in their roles, and provide expected services for their own responsibility areas.
  • Own the unit engagement agenda, drive local priorities and support in action planning and implementation.
  • Development and execution of diversity, equity and inclusion agenda.
  • Strengthening the understanding of people aspect of change. Provide coaching, training and hands-on support for business.
  • Together with business, analyze and forecast workforce needed to achieve business plans. Develop approaches to meet those needs, and lead and support in related actions.
  • Identify opportunities for supporting strategic direction through organization design. Support and consult the business when undertaking organizational changes and needed restructurings, including mergers and acquisitions. Guide and support business in employment and labor law.
  • Partnering with HR CoE, advise the business in health and wellbeing strategy and topics.
  • Collaborate with P&C CoEs and local operations team/services to ensure smooth delivery of annual People processes, focus on outcomes and impacts of these processes.
  • Promote the usage of the P&C service delivery model in their units and proactively share feedback and business requirements to different P&C teams and help them to turn those into actions that improve P&C service delivery.

Key competencies and experience (include any required professional qualifications):

  • Diverse background in HR roles, communications experience is an asset
  • Business background/roles are an advantage
  • Proven track record of success in multicultural business environments, with strong capability in enabling high-performance cultures.
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills, passion with growth mindset.
  • Strong professionalism and experience in talent development and organization transformation and development
  • Hands-on project management and change management experience
  • M.Sc. or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 10 years+ of progressive HR experience, preferably in a multinational company
  • Good exposure and knowledge for China mainland, on the labor regulation, talent movement insight etc.
  • Fluency of English and local language of Cantonese is an asset
